Yeah almost identical, but no native lossless support yet - meaning that the server side decodes the lossless file into full WAV before sending it to the roku. This is what happens when used with the slimserver software (Does the squeezebox do this?). But you do get a LOT of choices - Itunes Share M...

One word: Reserator

You'll be able to ditch the SI-120, GPU fan, and probably all of those nexus fans, leaving you with the PSU fan alone.

Basically the Reserator turns your computer into a dead box which clicks once in a while as the HD accesses something. :D

really dont know why do they make those honeycomb (or whatever) grills on cases. Why don't they just make some nice round holes, even with no grills at all? EMI certification. No grills means no CE stamp and no FCC class B compliance. Also, cases can get quite flimsy with no grill at all, not to me...

for me the Reserator has been flawless, a large part of this due to the aforementioned compression fittings. I have yet to encounter a better style of fitting ensuring 0 leaks and maximum convenience for the user, and zalman quality is top-notch IMHO. This in contrast to a WC system I ditched after ...

The DAC1 is probably what I'll get -- seems the ticket given that you get a headphone amp, digital preamp and DAC all in one. Encouraging to hear you like yours. I only listen to digital, so plan to use it as a preamp using the balanced connections to my monoblocks. How is yours set up? Yes it is l...

But be warned that some people will spend up to $1000 to get a jitter-free spdif out Now don't get me wrong, I'm all for audiophile grade gear, but as my understanding goes jitter is something that occurs in the actual conversion process and not at the SPDIF source. And whats that thing with galvan...

OK Im willing to admit that speakers can change sound over a period of time, but mostly it is for the worse, not better. People who are "breaking in" speakers for 400 hours to get better bass response are probably just burning up their tweeters so the bass is overemphasized. Amps, especially tube, n...

I find the fact that these people advocate "breaking in" equipment such as speakers, amps, audio and AC cables (!) for 100-800 hours to get better performance completeley laughable. Its like buying a new computer and the salesman tells you, "yeah its a bit slow at first but after 400 hours of foldin...

I can definitely feel for all those audiophiles out there. What I like best is to buy second hand gear off them for peanuts, because they got to have "the next best thing". Nakamichi 6-cd player + Boston Acoustics lc-30 speakers, all for 400$, for example hehe :), oh and I use Ace hardware store 1$ ...

Advice on single fan system w. Thermaltake Big Water

Hi fellow SPCR'ers, I currently own an ABIT NF7-S with XP1700 Palomino, stuck in an old AT case with a Seagate 160GB 7200.7, Zalman Passive NB heatsink. My plan is to buy an Antec Super Lanboy case, Nexus 4090 PSU, Thermaltake Big Water and XP2500 Mobile processor. I want to then remove the 120mm fa...

me? I run a home based recording studio where I do my own projects and some friends stuff.. needless to say I need the computer to be dead silent. When recording with condensor mics with a 136db range even the tiniest amount of noise slips in. I've gone from slowing down fans and duct taping to buil...

For the record, there was a 38 page long discussion (flamefest) over at gearslutz.com (pro-audio site) about the benefits of high end AC cables for audio equipment, so this is pretty tame by comparison :) FWIW, here's a few things I learned from my studio experience - 1. Buy what sounds good to YOU....

It sounds like an rpm monitor in the bios automatically shuts down the server when it senses a fan fail, not overheating since shutdown would have occured only after a few mins of operation.

try connecting a fanmate to the fan or rewire it for 7v operation and see what happens

have fun :D

AMD 64 3200 w. cool'n'quiet and asus q-fan & stockHSF= n

just to relate my experiences, I got me a nice ASUS K8V with AMD 64 3200 a week or two ago. This is for studio recording work so silence is very very important here.. Anyway the whole system is sitting in a padded chieftec "dragon" with 1 case fan at 5v in the back and a modded stock psu fan at arou...

perhaps the relatively low waterflow actually *helps* the cooling since the hot water coming from the cpu has time to circulate and rise inside the reservoir instead of being sucked right back into the pump.. This is definitely on my "need to get" list...I already saw it in a czech webstore for arou...
