Re: Mike's final sign-off - POSTPONED

Just come back here in literally years having gleaned ALL my silencing knowledge from THIS site. Came back to see what's what in the 120mm fan world only to see this thread
I'm sorry to see things end.

I killed one of my Geforce 4's with a Zalman HPA (mentioned on this forum somewhere), so if anything is quiet stock (dont fancy the Sapphire models), then this might just be my next card.

Rumours of dual DVI are rife tho, I cld do with that

Just a thought... but if you're going to twist the metal out of shape for better airflow, you might as well just cut out the intake vent "bars" with a tin snip tool to get maximum airflow. I've thought about doing it myself, but figured I'd rather not risk voiding the 3 year warranty. Bye the way.....

Was upset at paying £104 UK for it to find the SS and then the Tornado to be out

Still happy now I modded it (twisted intake vent and panaflo L1a in it)

A couple of points: No geforce4 card will fry itself if it gets too hot. It will lock up before it gets hot enough to do any damage to itself. The best test for VGA cooling is to run 3DMark03 in a loop for half an hour. If it gets through that without any artifacting or lockups then you're fine. co...

Silent PVR Drives - I wish

Bet a silent version of these may take a while. Having said that, pvr drives should theoretically be marketed as a quiet solution I suppose
