Need More Storage

Hi I'm looking into buying more storage space for my existing fairly silent computer. I only have enough ide ports and power ports for 1 more hard drive. I'm thinking of getting either a 250Gb or 300Gb harddrive as all harddrives over 300Gb seem to be over my price range. So, can someone please reco...

this is the only link i have been able to find which shows you how to mod the vcore! but it shows the opposite of what i want. it shows how to increase it instead of decreasing it?

Well, that's the "official" statement, but there's no problem running a Barton with 333FSB on the KT3-Ultra. are you sure? as on their website it says "Support AMD Barton XP3000+ (FSB333) CPU (For KT3 Ultra2 Only)." I have the KT3 Ultra not the KT3 Ultra2. Not through any MSI BIOS release, there mi...

im a hypocrite, so shoot me! :P no seriously i thought that i would have to unlock the multiplier to change the vcore, i was obviously wrong. unfortunately i just realised/remembered that i have an overclocking type motherboard and it was not really intended for undervolting so in the bios options i...

oops looks and sounds like i have been mixing up undervolting and underclocking all this time. so, after reading this thread and the link suggested above, am i right in saying that you can undervolt your cpu to a point before you have to reduce its clock speed. so any undervolting done without havin...

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I would expect all components to be running at optimum levels. Not beyond optimum levels and not under optimum levels, so no overclocking to increase anything and no undervolting to decrease the speed of the processor. so a 2.6Ghz processor should be running at a full...

not possible to build silent system under 100% load!

most of the stuff i have read in this forum tells us how to build a silent system which does not run 100% load. why is this? why is it not possible to build a system which can run silent and cool under 100% load?

or is it possible?

I have a seasonic already, but can't remember which!

That is not the only problem, is that I have to powerup the fans to full under full load, and when i do that i can hear the system! I want it to be silent under full load.

Help me build a new silent system :)

Hello I am looking to build myself a new silent system. I currently have: cpu - xp1900 ram - 512 hdd - barracuda 250gb gc - ti4200 This system is very quiet when idle or when surfing the net or word processing. But when I do video or audio encoding things get a little messy. For example, the the psu...

Thanks for the info.

sounds like a 17" TFT is around 4 times cheaper to run than a 17" CRT

Any recommendations on which 17" TFT to get, (preferably one with minimal buzz) :D

TFT vs CRT

Hi

Im interested in getting a TFT, but would like to find out a little bit before I do.

First of all, how much does it cost to run a CRT 17" monitor per hour?
and secondly, how much would it cost to run a TFT 17" monitor per hour?

Plus, do TFT monitors make any buzzing sounds?

Oh yeah, I forgot the night problem. ie, no sun in the night :D So most likely you would need your attic full of batteries to save any excess energy generated by the panels. oogabooga @ 8 x 8 inches, is that all, well thats promising. So, what if I wanted to get 1 of them roof convertions + batterie...

This might be a little over the top, but how big and how expensive would solar panels have to be to provide enough energy to power a 300W PC under load?

Long thin heatsinks

Hi

I live in the UK and am looking for some long thin striped shaped heatsinks. The kind which you may have seen on some hard drive mods on this site.

I want to stick then on the sides of the harddrive and then suspended it for better cooling.

Thanks.

Can you not make out that bolt where there should be a screw. And can you not see the 2 fins of the heatsink under that top corner of the fan spread out more than they should be? Well, I got a bolt and forced it throw the fins of the heatsink, which is why 2 of them are more spreadout then the other...

I have left my server on for a few days now. Why is the heatsink always cold. It doesnt seem to get worm ? The stock fan in the heatsink is increably noisy. What can I do about this, because it vibrates like crazy. I cant tell what the temps are becuase this motherboard does not have any sensors :(

There are 2 fans on my PSU, 1 at the bottom only visible when the case is open, and 1 at the back which can be seen from the back of the case. The fan at the bottom sucks air into the PSU and the 1 at the back blows air out of the PSU. I know it works this way because I modded it with 2 zalman fan c...
