Re: My Second Quiet PC - Antec Solo Build
Looks great, what are temps like? Also what's the foam type you used in between the CDR and HD? Thanks, the two hard drives normally run in the low 90's Fahrenheit, HD Tune shows they have never been above 109F and that was probably on the last build during summer. Using Prime 95 in torture test mo...

My Second Quiet PC - Antec Solo Build
My second quiet PC build, after much info learned from SPCR. I drilled out the rivets on the Solo case that hold the side brace, and using thread cutting screws have it set up so the PSU can be removed without the MB. The Nexus 120mm CPU & Exhaust and 92mm Intake fans are all under-volted with a Dio...

Re: Can't get RPM Reading from 7V Nexus 120mm and 92mm Fans?
My first guess was you did not slow it down, but then it could not be louder than automatic. I had a Gigabyte 4670, which did not control the fan. I wrote on SPCR, how I made it to control the fan. If your card does control, you don't need any hardware change. A diobus would be a bad solution, beca...

Re: Can't get RPM Reading from 7V Nexus 120mm and 92mm Fans?
Thanks again for all suggestions. My Antec Solo case is now assembled, I ended up making the Fan Voltage Diode Strip shown here as its cheap and works great: http://www.silentpcreview.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=109317 I'm also using a two position switch with the low speed running at 7.2V and the hi...

Re: Can't get RPM Reading from 7V Nexus 120mm and 92mm Fans?
Thanks for all advice, I'm now looking at various types of fan controllers: The Zalman ZM-MFC1 Combo bay controller looks nice but it seems this one, and all of the other Zalman fan bay style fan controllers can only provide rpm signals on one 4-pin and one 3-pin fan. If I'm going to get a bay style...

Re: Can't get RPM Reading from 7V Nexus 120mm and 92mm Fans?
Guess I better start researching zener diodes or fan controllers. I want to step the voltage down to 4-5 fans (CPU, Exhaust, Intake x1 or 2 and GPU) so a fanmate for all is going to run the same or more than a fan controller. Wondering if most fan controllers come with lots of cable length as there ...

Re: Can't get RPM Reading from 7V Nexus 120mm and 92mm Fans?
Thanks for the information, I'm going to need another method of reducing the voltage short of using a fan controller. I would like to be able to monitor RPM to know if there is an issue with a fan. I think somewhere I've seen info somewhere regarding putting a resistor in the 12V wire to the fan to ...

Can't get RPM Reading from 7V Nexus 120mm and 92mm Fans??
I'm outfitting a new Antec Solo case for my PC, and have chosen the recommended 120mm Nexus D12SL-12 for Exhaust / CPU, and the 92mm Nexus DF1209-SL3 fans for intake. I'm running them on 7v by switching the negative pin in the Molex connector to the 5V line, but at 7V I can't get an rpm reading at a...

Replacement 120mm Fan for Noisy Fortron/Sparkle 350W PSU
I've got a Fortron/Sparkle 350W PS with a single 120mm bottom intake fan, I believe its a FSP350-60PN. It was purchased from CoolCases in June of 2003, at that time these were a hot item here for low noise. Here is the original thread from March of 2003 where I found out about this unit: http://foru...

Re: Anyone Undervolt a Panaflo 120mm "M" ??
Yeah, it's funny to see all the comments over at Abit-usa forums and OCforums about how the rev 2 NB fan is "dead quiet", "I can't even hear it" , "oh man, how can I get one of these quiet gems for my NF-7" etc. :) Have you thought about trying that new zalmanzm-nb47j? It looks like it would do a m...

at 5V it is running circa 670rpm, and most (mobo) fan sense circuitry doesn't make sense of such a slow rate anyway. Yes, that is correct. I run my HSF and intake fan at the slowest speed the MB will recognize via Speed Fan. This has been about 1150rpm for the 120mm intake and about 1250rpm for the...

Re: Anyone Undervolt a Panaflo 120mm "M" ??
BTW - I had an IC-7 in here to test last week and found the NB fan to be unbearable. Did you replace yours with a passive Zalman or something? Ralf: Yes, I love the IS7 MB, its cheap, fast, and stable but the NB fan was awful. I tried slowing it down from its 7000rpm to about 4K but it was still to...

That's what I thought when I was first putting my SLK3700 rig together last October. Ralf: Yes, I agree. My case temps don't go down any using the Antec 120mm as an Intake fan but using only the Panaflo 120mm for an exhaust my HD temps go up about 10-12F. Are you still using the 120mm OEM Panaflo (...

Anyone Undervolt a Panaflo 120mm "M" ??
Just wondered what the medium speed 120mm Panaflo's sound like say at 5V?
How do they compare to the L1A 120mm at 7 and 5V ??
Was sort of interested as I have seen these in the BX designation.
Thanks.

there's several threads that shows my SLK3700 with a 92mm L1A as a HDD cooling fan on the front case wall. I run it at 5V and can't hear it. Intake Fan Recomendations Pls
As my sig shows, currently have an Antec 3700 case with the stock grills removed. The Antec PSU was replaced with the Fortron/Sparkle 350W 120mm fan unit. A Panaflo 120mm L1A at 7V is used for exhaust and the Antec 120mm unit is being used for intake also at 7V. The TR SLK900U CPU heatsink has a Pan...

Save your money and possible board damage and get the 800. The 800U from NewEgg was about $3 cheaper than the 900U, and I bought the board as a refurb so didn't have alot in it. I wanted the best possible cooling and was willing to take my chances on bending the caps. I'm also planning a future upg...

Yea, I got a reply back from Thermalright - boy they are very quick in their replies! They said its best to use the 800U instead. Ah well - we'll see how that goes then :) I was able to install an 900U on an Epox 8K3A+ but it took quite a bit of bending of the capacitors to do it. The board is work...

I received my 350 watt 120mm Fortron/Sparkle from CoolCases.com yesterday. They shipped it fast, certainly wasn't overpacked but it arrived undamaged. Panaflo 80mm L1A with RPM Sensing?
Is there a Panaflo 80mm Low Speed fan with RPM Sensing?
I looked at Digikey.com and could only find M and U versions with the BX at the end of their part number which I understand means 3wire (RPM).
If there is one, where is a good source in the US?
Thanks.

I used the melamine foam from McMasters to line the inside of my Antec 3700 case. Didn't find it to be a problem in terms of the fiberglass causing irritation. Currently running an AMD but will be upgrading to P4 in the future. Using a Thermalright SK6 with a 60mm fan now and would like something effective but much quieter.
