Re: HTPC Desktop Case & Tower Cooler?

Still haven't found anything, though it occurred to me a 4u rackmount case might work. Been searching but haven't found one I really like. Ideally it wouldn't have a front door and wouldn't be too deep. The shelf it will be on is only 17" deep. I already cut most of the back out so airflow won't be ...

HTPC Desktop Case & Tower Cooler?

Are there any ATX HTPC or desktop style cases with at least 3 external bays and can fit a 120mm tower cooler? Specifically the Xigmatek Gaia, since that's what I have.

The Antec is also a nice case but has only one external drive bay.

Re: HTPC or Desktop Case with 120mm Rear Exhaust

Yes, I found several cases like that, with the 80mm rear exhaust. The 120mm fan is really a deal breaker. I'd be more willing to give up 1 of the external drive bays.

HTPC or Desktop Case with 120mm Rear Exhaust

I'm looking for an ATX HTPC or desktop style case with a 120mm rear exhaust fan, at least (2) external 5.25", (1) external 3.5", (2) internal 3.5" bays and can fit a Xigmatek Gaia tower cooler. Does such a beast even exist?

Thanks. I guess I'll order a Gentle Typhoon and another Yate Loon and see how it goes. After reading some more reviews I don't think I'll bother with the Noctua or Noiseblocker. If I could find a Sanyo Denki 9S1212L4011 I might try one of those but can't find anyplace that sells them in the US.

Have you compared the noise from the 1450rpm GT to the 1350rpm YL?

OK, here are 3 fans I'm considering as replacements for the CPU fan. Anyone made direct comparisons between any of these fans and the Yate Loon D12SL-12?

Scythe Gentle Typhoon D1225C12B4AP-14 1450rpm
Noctua NF-P12 1300rpm
Noiseblocker BlackSilentFan XL2 1500rpm

It's been a while but I"m pretty sure I tried the S-Flex fans and didn't like them any better than the others. Never tried the Typhoons.

Need Replacement for Yate Loon 120mm

For over 2 years I've been using (1) Nexus 120mm as my exhaust fan and (2) Yate Loon D12SL as intake and CPU fan. They're not totally silent but quiet enough and I find the type of sound they make innocuous. They've been running pretty much 24/7 and everything was fine until today the CPU fan, which...

They appear to be, yes. They use the Sony fluid dynamic bearings but they have different RPMs than the S-Flex fans.

The Qpack2 is tempting since it has more room,a 120mm fan and would keep me under budget but I think I may go with the SilverStone SUGO SG02-F case and a Coolmax CU-400B PSU, one of the least expensive modular PSUs I could find. I still need a heatsink though. Silverstone makes one specifically for ...

I found a couple more cases that look interesting. Anyone have experience with these?

AeroCool M40
Silverstone SG02B

The Lian Li is too expensive, Thermaltake uses 60mm fans and Antec only has 1 external bay and I'd probably have to replace the PSU.

Cheap, Small, Quiet & Cool

I'm trying to put together a cheap system for a friend and could use some recommendations for a cube style mATX case and a CPU heatsink that will fit in it. I like the look of the Apevia Qpack but the quality of those seems iffy, especially the PSU. I'm trying to keep the total around $250. So far a...

What do you think a fair price would be to charge them for the repair, not including the part? Normally I don't ask for anything when I fix stuff for them but I usually get a little something anyway. This time I'm definitely asking and I'll use whatever I get towards something nicer.

ACK... I just lost all the parts I thought I had. I was supposed to be getting most of them from a dead computer at the office (bad motherboard) which I was told I could have. Socket 478. I'll edit the original post to include that. I would have added it before but I was thinking 478 was the only socket that CPU ever used.

Beg, Borrow, Steal... Well not so much borrow or steal.

I'm trying to put together a tower for a friend who can't afford to buy a new system right now. She currently has an 8 year old Dell 4300 that's starting to die on her so just about anything would be an upgrade. I already have most of the parts including a socket 478 800MHz FSB 2.4GHz P4 and (2) 256...

Yate Loon D12SL-12 Noise Recording

Does SPCR have a noise recording for the Yate Loon 1350rpm version of the 120mm D12SL-12? I tried searching but all I could find was the Nexus 1000rpm version of this fan, of course with the same model number.

Anyone know how it compares to the Scythe S-Flex 1600rpm SFF21F?

I need to temporarily connect a 2.5" IDE laptop drive to my PC, just to get files off it and then wipe the drive.
