Alright, the deal went pretty well for me. I just picked up the hard drive from the Post Office, and had to pay $24.69 to Customs. GST was $9.19 PST was $10.50 Handling Fee of $5.00 Directron shipped it with a declared value of $100, so Canadian Customs converted that to $131.31. So in total I paid ...

Just as an update. I ordered the 160GB SP1614N and it shipped out with USPS last Monday from Directron. The soonest I'll get the drive will probably be later this week, and once i get the drive I'll update again with info about the handling fee and duties/taxes that I'll have to fork over to Canada ...

Does korsch happen to be the new member, Jerz, at Directron's forum? Well he posted asking about the USPS shipping to Canada, and the Moderator replied, Select one of the USPS options. The calculation will be wrong. Customer Service will compute the value by hand when processing your order. If you'd...

I got this info about USPS Global Priority Mail: 9. For all casual and commercial items valued under 1,200 Canadian dollars, Canada Post will collect the assessed duties and excise taxes and a handling fee of 5 Canadian dollars from the addressee. For EMS items, the handling fee is 8 Canadian dollar...

bah! Samsung is pretty good at replying quickly to inquiries, but I'm not liking the responses... Warranty is only covered in the counrty you purchase the unit from. If you purchase in the USA warranty is in the USA, because we do not ship out side the USA. So if you are in Canada you can not ship i...

Spinpoint 8MB hard drives no show in Canada?
I've been thinking for a few weeks now in getting one of those new 120GB Spinpoint 8MB cache hard drives. Seeing as I couldn't find any at Canadian retailers that I know of, I thought I'd ask Samsung Canada where they are (Google searches also came up with nothing, only 2MB cache drives). They answe...

Vibe Computers now has the Papst 120mm fan (55.9cfm, 30dBa).
http://www.vibecomputers.com/index.cfm? ... vID=191106
$28, which is a pretty good price I think for a Papst (it's cheaper then most 120mm fans at other stores)

Whoa, i missed that red 4-pin to 3-pin adapter when i checked for them. Last time i looked i only saw the 3-pin female connectors. I think browsing around at Vibe triggered my thoughts about using old 3-pin fans actually. Why spend money on connectors I already had?! :) Shipping for a $3 item would'...

Actually, if the Canadian store doesn't specifically list whether the drive has 2MB or 8MB cache you may want to try calling up the ppl with the SP1604N to see if it might be the 8MB version. If you check Samsung.ca, the drives sold in Canada should use SP1203N and SP1604N model numbers for both 2MB...

Do you have a fan you don't use that has the 3-pin connector? Like the retail fans that come with CPUs? You can cut the wires and connect them together. You can solder them if it's for long term. I just used electrical tape to cover the bare wire. If you have an extra 3-pin fan, soldering iron and s...

As tywen said, DVD-audio can only be outputted in analog. DVD-Audio is not the same as DVD-Video with Dolby Digital or DTS soundtracks. DVD-Audio discs come with a Dolby Digital track, but that's for backwards compatibility since most DVD players can't play the actual 'advanced resolution' tracks. T...

E-A-R/PVC isolators for 120mm fans. K8 or K6?
hey, I am going to buy some melamine from McMaster-Carr and wanted to buy some of the fan isolators. From previous threads it seems either K8 or K6 will work, but i couldn't find where it specifies which works with which. Took out a ruler and tried to measure which ones would work, but my measuremen...
