Re: How do I change Antec fan with fan control to motherboar
GREAT, thanks! It works just fine... I didn't even bother with BIOS, downloaded the AI Suite 3.0 and oh boy is it super cool and easy to use. Could literally set the fan speed and thresholds with temperatures. No guessing game anymore. Fantastic product. Now, HOW DO I get AI Suite to read my GPU fan...

How do I change Antec fan with fan control to motherboard?
I have a set of Antec TrueQuiet fans that have their own fan controller slider... I wanna change it from that to motherboard so motherboard (Asus Z97-Pro) could increase or decrease fan speed based on temperatures. How do I do that? Do I cut the fan control out? or a motherboard setting (I couldn't ...

Re: Lian-Li PC-62 case with 80mm fans... or could it be imro
Thanks, I have no idea how much PC-B10 costs? It's surely around (but probably above) 300 dollars (here in Italy it costs around 240euros at least), but being a 2009 products IMO you'd better to contact directly Lian Li about it. Not worth it then, I can't find it in US or Canada, maybe I will drop...

Re: Lian-Li PC-62 case with 80mm fans... or could it be imro
the question is only around cooling and if Nexian does as well, or better than R4 or 550D, or is it worse? Cooling and noise are related, whether the noise floor is higher you can't compare cooling as well. If we give a look to raw figures this assumption looks like even more true: according to Ana...

Re: Lian-Li PC-62 case with 80mm fans... or could it be imro
The devil is always in the details..you have to look at the test setups to see the differences. Different CPUs were used with differing TDP, sockets and coolers. Different gfx cards were used with different coolers - while they both had similar TDPs (170W vs 160W), Anandtech had an Asus DCII type c...

Re: Lian-Li PC-62 case with 80mm fans... or could it be imro
Haven't read Anand review. You would have to study both and figure it out. My question about your last comment is... At what fan speeds or noise level? They're overall impression was similar, they found chimney didn't do much unless it was OCed, high fan setting was preferred as low setting just ma...

Re: Lian-Li PC-62 case with 80mm fans... or could it be imro
What about Nanoxia DS1? Anandtech seems to absolutely love it, and they rate it as their best silent case with good airflow... why this is missing from SPCR's recommended cases? Doesn't stack up. Read our review I have, and that's the question... while Anand likes Nanoxia the best, your tests show ...

Re: Lian-Li PC-62 case with 80mm fans... or could it be imro
Maybe you mentioned why earlier in the thread and I didn't see it...but, why the emphasis on weight? Are you carrying the PC around the house? No, but I HATE heavy cases that's super hard to move around, mod, etc... I know it's better for overall noise dampening, but I feel like a case doesn't need...

Re: Lian-Li PC-62 case with 80mm fans... or could it be imro
If you choose to go big, I picked the R4 over the 550D and have been very happy with the case. More details in my signature/build thread. Thanks, I am leaning more towards 550D, as it's a lot lighter, and front panel is aluminium vs. Plastic on R4... R4 seems to have more flexiblity and probably be...

Re: Lian-Li PC-62 case with 80mm fans... or could it be imro
So, at this point, after researching quite a bit, only the following fit the bill on my needs of smaller/lighter case, minimalist and good looks (no bling), with good cooling and quiet... Which do you recommend most? - Fractal R4 - a bit heavy, looks ok, perfect reviews on Newegg, not great review o...

Re: Lian-Li PC-62 case with 80mm fans... or could it be imro
alexb -- It sounds like you're sold on LianLi cases, but by modern standards, they all look compromised for airflow. I mean, they can be made to work, but you'll get better cooling (and therefore, lower noise) results right out of the box w/o modifications with cases from Fractal, Silverstone Antec...

Re: Lian-Li PC-62 case with 80mm fans... or could it be imro
The first one is a relatively unknown revision (more fans, different HDD cage) of a proven design, some times used by SPCR readers, mostly in the steel form of the Lancool K7. A bit outdated design (USB 2.0. Ac97, top PSU mounting, but apparently with vented top this time), it's basically an evolut...

Re: Lian-Li PC-62 case with 80mm fans... or could it be imro
I had a 2nd look at case recommendations. It looks like there's a lot of love for Silverstone and Antec. They're just all so damn fulgy! Also I was not at all impressed with my Antec fusion case. The quality of material and fit and finish was way below my Lian-Li case despite being one of the recomm...

Hehe, thanks... Lian-Li PC-62 case with 80mm fans... or could it be imroved?
I have an older Lian-li case PC-62, http://www.lian-li.com/en/dt_portfolio/pc-62/ , where I build a basic older AMD system a few years back. I then moved onto an HTPC, and now getting rid of that HTPC and was thinking of re-using the PC-62 and to build a quiet (not silent) system to do the following...

Re: Quietest faster large HDD right now? 3TB or 4TB?
The past few WD Blue and Blacks I've had have been noisy, mostly vibration which leads to resonance, or the 2TB Black actually made the floor vibrate. Greens and Reds are both very quiet. Seagate's Desktop.15 (and therefore the Seagate NAS) is quiet as far as idle noise, but accessing noise tends t...

Ok, thanks, so for sure x3xx series won't work, right? What about varieties of x1xx? Like 4130, 4170, etc... if it's not listed? Can't you just return the CPU (with no money penalty), in case it won't work? I guess I could, but as this is an older machine I am trying to find a used CPU for cheap to...

Re: Cooling Phenom2 X6
Any idea WHY only some FX series are supported? Like 4100 and not 4300? or 6100 and not 6300? Could I get into trouble if I get a 4130, or 6300? Aren't they just the same with different CPU speed? or there's more to it (the stepping maybe)? The x3xx are Piledriver based while x2xx and x1xx are Bull...

Re: Quietest faster large HDD right now? 3TB or 4TB?
Thanks andy... here (Canada) WD Red is quite a bit more money, but I will wait for some sale at some point. I guess Black is over-kill as I'd be using SSD for boot drive, so best option seems like Intel SSD boot drive + WD Red for file server (music/video/pics/docs).

Re: Cooling Phenom2 X6
Thanks for all the help... I however JUST found out that my motherboard (MSI 890GX) accepts AM3+ CPUs and Bulldozer architecture with just a BIOS update.
So, doing a full 180... which FX CPU gives me the best bang for the buck to be (1) Faster than my current CPU, (2) can be quiet
Thanks!

CPU Planned: Phenom 2- X6 1055. Although I haven't got it yet, currently using X4-640. There are two part numbers for that CPU: you'd better to pick the lower TDP SKU. At any rate, I hope you have planned some future jobs for those two further cores, otherwise you may not notice any performance imp...

I tried my best to find a quiet video card, but the damn MSI Radoen 7700 Video card sounds like a vacuum cleaner... what's the easiest way to quiet this thing down? Have you tried SpeedFan? On my XFX 7770 it worked marvelously. No, but I should I guess. I know the MSI or ATI driver does speed the f...
