Woo hoo, I rolled past 25 million.
Don't check in here much anymore, mostly because Quiet/Silent has become so much more mainstream and secondly computers are so powerful I upgrade at a much slower pace. Thanks to the site admins/owners for leading the quiet revolution.

Re: Which GTX560 Ti is the most quiet?
I'm building a new system and considering the MSI 560 Ti boards, in particular the OC and Hawk versions. Is it possible to undo the factory overclock on these boards? It seems like these boards have superior components and cooling solutions to support the factory OC. If I turn back the OC I'm hoping...

SMP Reinstall
One of my boxes stopped folding. The client expired. Downloaded the new client. Installed the new SMP tool. Configured FAH with "-configonly". Started up the service, but it was not running as SMP. Realized I forgot to change the service startup parameters. So I used regedit to change the service pa...

Ok, I got the SMP version working this morning. I've left 3 of the single cores running to finish up what they are working on. If I change the setting for "Ask before fetching/sending work" to yes while the cores are running will it pop up a dialog before it starts another WU? I'm looking for an eas...

I initially installed the SMP client and it pegged the cores at 100% but never seemed to complete anything. I let it go for several days without any indication that it was progressing. My thinking at the time was I would install the non-SMP clients and wait for the SMP beta to expire and the promise...

SimT Gromacs - I need to vent
I HATE these WU's.
My PPD has fallen from 3,000 PPD to 1,000. I thought one of my boxes was down. A quad core running 4 clients is going on 5 days to complete a 343 point WU. A normal WU takes about 24 hours for 600 points. I hate these things.
Ok, I'm done.

On the other hand check out the costs related to a full day in a nursing home for someone who's completely gone because of Alzheimers or dementia. And since in many instances the government is going to pick up that tab, well, all of us will be paying for it anyways. As you said this is a very cost ...

I can't at this point. I think I've done something wrong. It looks like the cores are doing something, but it has not completed a WU since Mon night/Tue early morn (1 AM). It took about 18 hours to complete WUs this weekend with 4 instances. I'm going to give it till tonight, then start over ... Da...

SMP Question
I just built a Q6600. I just installed the Folding SMP client on Vista. I had some problems downloading the SMP client. So, in the meanitme, I installed the console client 4 times. This seemed to work fine. I downloaded the SMP client at work and emailed it home. I turned off the 4 console services ...

P182 - Stock Fans? And Fan Recomend for Ultra 120
I just ordered a P182 case to use with a new q6600, Ultra 120 extreme, a fanless video card, and a Corsair 450 PSU. No overclocking. I need to order a couple of fans for the Ultra 120. I am wondering whether I should also order case fans to replace the stock Antec fans. I'm leaning towards the 1200 ...

PC Dead - Help Diagnose
Came home yesterday and the power was off to the house. When power came back on, the computer wouldn't. I opened up the computer, no fryed smell. When I power the computer on the fans spin for a second or two, then spin down. I hear the subwoofer pop, so it seems to be getting power. Unfortuna...

Just to make things more clear: Unless you have a NVIDIA 6800 or higher video card, you don't need (and cannot use) a PCI-E power connector that only comes on the 500 and 600 watt versions of the S12. (Sorry, don’t know the ATI model numbers that need the power connector). The 6800GT and below does...

In a nutshell, BTX is Intel's answer to the thermal problems created by their own runaway heat Prescott, and it doesn't really address adequate cooling for other components nor does it address noise well. A CPU cooling fan at the very front of the case?? We already know Prescott will not go past P4...

Lubics Case System
Tom's has an article on Quakecon 2003 that includes a tease about a new erector set build your own case from Aerocool that might allow for experimenting with other case concepts such as radiant cooling. With the Lubics case system, you are no longer bound by the concept of a box of some sort in whic...

Re: Last advice on quiet system
So maybe you have some "last minute" suggestions? P4 2.8c 800FSB HT Asus p4c800 Deluxe 2x 512 mb DDR400 Apacer Zalman 7000Cu (will it cool enough on the slowest setting?) 3x Maxtor 80gb SATA 8mb (quiet enough? I heard it's quieter than the Cuda's) Radeon9700 AIW or 9800 AIW ( will the Zalman passiv...
