Thanks for the reply. The Antec worked perfectly yesterday, even the standby wake-up works, it has not for a while now. So I went ahead and ordered a Coolmax Taurus ? 400w 120mm PSU from newegg, and the Antec is going back to BestBuy... I may just give that PSU to that friend of mine, since it works...

Did I fry my PSU?????

I have a workspower 120mm psu, and I had modified it by cutting the power to its fan and connecting it to one of its power connector's 5volt leads to slow it down. Starting yesterday morning couple of months after this mod, the PC won't turn on. The only hint of life is when I hard plug the PC the m...

I may consider reversing the rear case fan then, this would create positive pressure inside the case (front AND rear fan blowing into the case), with the only outlet being through the PSU. Anyone tried that?

Case temp rose to max 33, however mobo temp reads around 40, cpu is around 46 or so. A little high, but probably sustainable... I was looking at the airflow in the back, the 80mm case fan is stealing all the air that comes the front since it has unbostructed air path, the PSU is getting the leftover...

I just did the 5V mod, that reduced the PSU noise dramatically, I now hear the wind noise from the window and the fridge noise 2 doors down more than the PC. Cool! There is still some residual noise, afterall there are four fans and 2 hard drives in there... It was pretty simple and took about 20 mi...

How to slow down the PSU fan?

I have a workspower 360W 120mm PSU (www.workspower.com), even though it has a 120mm fan it is very noisy as it does not have fan speed control (neither manual not automatic) based on load or temparature. It just keeps spinning on max speed (or so it seems) and does not vary spin rate or noise. What ...

Ok, I have solved the issue for the most part. I have set the S3 (suspend to ram) option in the bios. When I select standby, now the system suspends to ram and turns all fans off. This works as fast as an S1 standby, and not like s4 hibernation. I have checked, and the XP Media Center TV recorder do...

Thanks for the replies. I guess I will have to live with it. I wonder how the HPs pulled it off. The m300y was an off brand microATX motherboard. My previous 2 PCs would turn all fans off when in Standby. But they were both HPs, not custom built like this one, maybe that was the reason. 2 laptops I worked with would turn everything off as well, but, those are laptops... p4p800 standby fan noise!!!

I see that many people here have the p4p800Deluxe, When my p4p800 deluxe goes into standby, the OS is put on standby fine, but all the fans including the PSU keep running. What can I do such that when the PC is on standby, it is silent? Even the CPU fan keeps running, which runs off of the mobo. Do ...

Is it quieter than the 160gig version? I owned the 160 gig, and the seek noise was just killing me. Is 80 gig quieter? Does it have one platter? OT: Does the P4P800 Deluxe play well with Geil ram?

I read somewhere that there are conflicts between the P4P800 Deluxe and Corsair ram, I want to make sure Geil works ok. I am looking at 2 x 256mb PC3200, I dont know the specific model, but it has a heatspreader on it.

Thanks in advance!!!

GeForceFX 5200 good for watching TV/DVD/HDTV?

I am considering the GEForceFX 5200 for a media center PC, the toughest job would be to handle video, DVD, TV, and soon HDTV. No gaming in sight at all. Is the GEForce 5200 good enough for this purpose? The other alternative is GEForceFX 5600, but it has a noisy fan which I am trying to avoid. Remov...

So can you give us a quick review when you have some time? Is the front bezel aluminum looking or plasticy? Have you equipped it up? How well does the fan cool the innards?

And the question on everyone's mind, how quiet is it? :D

I would be more concerned with the location of the CPU. It seems to be far from the only case fan and any source of fresh air and right next to the hard drives. Barbecue anyone?

I think a $900 for a case like this make sense.

Aluminum HS Case (with more than 2 times the aluminum of a $200 Al case) $400
Fanless PSU $250
VGA Heatpipe Cooler $30
Fanless CPU Cooler $50

Thats about $730. I guess the rest is R&D. Regardless, I know that I would not pay $900 for a case :)

I was browsing through cases, I came across the GMC Noblesse SE case, newegg.com has it here , but they seem to be out of them. It is pretty well sealed, with a cover for optical drives, and has some sound dampening material according to some reviews. I think it may be even too sealed for airflow. B...
