Do you think the continual heating (you know this bastard is going to get VERY hot) and then cooling (by turning the PC off) would increase the likelihood of the PCB cracking?

You should make a poll out of this and take 10 hours to compile the whole list. Then we can do video cards, processors, etc.

It would be cool to see (based on various polls) which parts people like the best for their silent systems.

Fans would take forever to compile.....

My currently recommended hardware list:

Here

ASRock have gotten a ton better, though PC Chips and ECS have not. Soyo is OK, though their rebate process is awful.

I personally fell in love with the external design of the P180 when I first saw it. After reading the review and looking at how the internal design was implemented, I'm definitely going to stay away. I want nothing to do with a case that is more difficult to work on than a Compaq/HP. KISS = Keep It ...

We'll folks! Here's a cowboy and............VISTA!!!

I just remember a quote from Wesley Snipes' wife in White Men Can't Jump:

"There ain't no vista and their ain't no view."

I turn off all the "glam" in XP, so it looks just like 2000...

I'm pretty happy with both, but I've just found XP to be better for Wireless Networking and it's more plug + pray (especially for USB devices).

Whatever works for ya!

2000 is great, but XP has Movie Maker 2, which is a great "free" program. Why haven't you upgraded? Money or because of 2000's reliability?

Windows Vista? Like the name or hate it

I personally think it's a lame name.

Couldn't they use Windows360 or something like that? How about Windows2006 (or 2007, depending)?

Damn dude. That's nasty.

How long after you modded the PSU did you notice problems?

I'd replace both the PS and MB just to make sure you don't fry anything else.

It wasn't a Yum-Cha brand, so it probably was the result of modding (or bad wiring in your walls).

It may be a problem with the motherboard - I've heard of some ...

I've run 150s-233MMXs passively with minute heatsinks. If you're going to throw a Socket A Heatsink on it, it should be fine - especially if you have that 80mm fan on.

What HDD is in that? I think the top looks pretty cool, though a better picture of it would be nice.

I definitely want something like that for my living room. I think I'll use a Mobile AMD CPU though.
