Re: Dell U3011 has a hum
Yes, that is some kind of workaround that works. However, it will use a lot more energy and probably decrease the life expectancy of the backlight as well. :( It's remarkable to find how command this problem is when you search for it. I haven't found yet which component is the culprit. I suspect som...

Re: Dell U3011 has a hum
I did some more searching but it seems that it's normal for the U3011 to emit this kind of hum. So sending it back is probably only a waste of money and will probably get me a kind of refurbished unit with the same problem  The brightness fix seems to be quite common for a lot of brands! Fo...

Re: Dell U3011 has a hum
Hmmm... my U3011 has the same problem (REV A09) so it will go back to the shop. Increasing the brightness to 100% isn't an option for me as it will greatly increase energy consumption.

The heatsink isn't glued but hold in place by plastic pens with springs. I've absolutely no concerns of it coming loose. I might take the card out to get some pictures :) Here's a link to the MSI card: http://msi.com/product/vga/N670GTX-PM2D2GD5-OC.html edit: I'm not sure anymore that the afterburne...

Re: Recommend me video card
I just replaced the stock cooler of an MSI GTX 670 OC with the artic accelero mono plus cooler with great results. I even opened the case to check it because I thought it wasn't working as I could not hear it from the outside at full speed! 8) The installation was very easy because the original heat...

I measured this with all devices connected. This includes a router, switch, water cooler pump and an AV receiver in standby. How can I cut down the power automatically when PC is in S5?
When I let my PC run a task at night (for example defragging) I always schedule a shutdown for when it finished. The next day, if I won't use it I switch of the power completly. I measured that my PC uses up to 30watt in S5 state (shutdown) so is there a way to automatically cut the power when shutd...

As far as I know, chipsets are fine to run close to 100C. Part of that is probably because they run at such low frequencies. Intel to release CPU with integrated north & southbridge
Seems like a good chip for low power usage: - Integrated Northbridge - Integrated Southbridge - Integrated Memory Controller - 600 - 1,2gHz - 13 - 25 watt But it will be a 1088 FCBGA part, so if you can ever buy it as a consumer... http://www.hkepc.com/bbs/itnews.php?tid=738057&starttime=0&endtime=0

Those links certainly indicate that the Gigabyte board overclocks well with a 6000 series CPU. However, there are reports than when you start from the 4300s 200mhz FSB you'll run into problems around 220. And I haven't found a site/forum yet that reports a 4300 running above 220mhz (say 300) with a ...

If only there was a good board with a low power chipset which could be used to overclock the 4300. The 965 chipset is expensive and has a fairly high TDP, the Nforce chipsets are even worse in this regard and the current 945 motherboards are bad at overclocking the 4300. Finally, the VIA chipsets do...

The combination Asrock ConRoe945G-DVI and Intel E4300 does not seem to overclock very well. The CPU is recognized by the motherboard as a 200 MHz fsb CPU and then it will not work above 224 MHz. Look at maybe the asus p5l-vm or mx. Then maybe you can clock it up a bit extra - although you'll probably top out at ~300 or so FSB, as no current C2D capable mATX board has PCI-e locks. Spire Rocketeer II 400W - Avoid
When my current Enermax PSU died with a bang I needed a replacement PSU fast. As Seasonic & Antec PSU's weren't available in the shops I decided to give the Spire 400watt a go (cost about 40 euros). The specs on the website are good: 21db(A) max noise and a 120mm fan. Efficiency isn't good, the manu...

BTW, here is another thing. Nvidia's AMD chipset is usually running a lot warmer than Intel's chipset. Aopen XC Cube EZ 65 / EY 65 Speedfan support coming up!
I'm happy to say that I just received a beta of Speedfan which works fine with this popular barebone (their mobo is identical).
I hope that the final version will be released soon.
Great work Alfredo!
