I've heard similar noise from my new psu. I just went from a S12-430 to a 650+ after upgrading my rig (AM2 4600+ to 6000+ and added another 7950 for sli) because I thought the 430 wouldn't have anough juice for the sli (yes 'juice' is about as good as my understanding gets). The fan definitely ramps...

You have to ask why you need a system that moster-like in cases like that... Maybe I'm olnly jealous
I can run pretty much any modern game smoothly at 1920x1200 on my humble dual core, single (not cutting edge) graphics card system. Wouldn't like to think how loud that psu got at 800W!

I seriously doubt you'll get even a slight fps boost going from 7200 to 10k rpm, the thing I noticed most was loading times decreasing and things running that little bit more smooth. In gaming it generakky hasn't provided a boost, I noticed it more when using photoshop or premiere. A mild overclock'...

Sounds like your Lian Li cases has a switch on the front which controls the voltage of the front two fans. I would seriously consider replacing the fans though in the long run if they're anything like the original ones in the PC-60 I had. Also if the rear exhaust grill is very airflow restrictive it...

I'm using both a Dell 2005 and an Eizo S2410W, both are very good for what they do at their price point, and are fine for games, movies and general work, they're also silent :) . Dell tend to be pretty good about letting you send back products just cause you don't like them after a couple days. The ...

My 2 pence: I've had a few problems with kingston valueram before, I would go with 2 crucial sticks instead as you want things to be reliable. Also I might be tempted to do a quick mod on the rear exhaust to fit a 80mm nexus fan instead of the two 60mm, although as you've said, you probably won't ne...

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the 8Mb version will be a little faster than the 2Mb, maybe better to describe it as more responsive, but the rotation speed is the biggest factor to be concerned with. There probably won't be any noticable difference with sustained transfers. If it only costs a ...

Great review! I'm pleased you did the nexus fan swap cause (as you said) it was such an obvious thing to do, and exactly what most people at SPCR would go for. :) It's nice to finally see a Pentum M shuttle out there, and one that is really worth getting. My only gripe is the traditional positioning...

I agree with IdontexistM8, there is an issue with spinpoint vibrations, but it's not too bad and it's easy to deal with, in your average SFF you probably won't notice. If you get the spinpoints from http://www.kustompcs.co.uk , you can ask them to check them for the right motor. I've always got luck...

You should be able to get hold of a passively cooled geforce 6600 or 6800 (gigabyte do some models), or undervolt a modern vga silencer. I've got of Geforce 6800GT with a VGA silencer and it's not bad with the standard, certainly much better than a normal stock cooler. If you undervolt it with a fan...

I would prefer to use an arctic cooling vga silencer if you need to exhaust video card heat, since you'll only be using one fan to get rid of the heat, compared to a blower and a stock vga cooler. If that makes sence!?

My first thought is you could replace the geforce heatsink/fan with an arctic cooling model, and undervolt it a little. This will be quieter than the stock model (even without undervolting) and you'll probably be able to remove the blower after this. Also decoupling the hard disks would be good mayb...

Quite a lot of socket A boards do, especially if you go for the higher end versions which are designed to allow overclocking.
