why convert that energy to heat?
why not into motion or something?
someone mentioned that switched power supplies differ voltages by pulsing. can you do that to make 24->12? does it help that its already dc to begin with? thanks.

quietude
i got one. it is pretty quiet.. but having quiet fans and quiet hard drives and a quiet PSU helps --a lot--. imho the main noise-blocking things about this case are the 'double hulled' nature (a metal box surrounded by a layer of curvy plastic)... and the flip-down spring door over the CDROM bays. t...

there are two of the drives. they work perfectly. they are fast and quiet and nice. they just run REALLY HOT. improved airflow has helped a lot, now i can touch them. i also rubber-banded an old piece of copper to the back of one and it seems to help a little bit too. but wtf? does anyone else have ...

Serial ATA takes a different power plug and I read some where on the internet (yeah i know, im an idiot) that all the first generation disks would come with converters.  anyways i hope some poor soul reads this before they to...

the VIA .c and .h files for linux compile without changes under bsd.
the only change needed was to use a different makefile.
