For my latest i7-860 Win7 build, I decided to use a X25-M 160G Postville instead of two velociraptors set RAID1 (mirror) as in my i7-920 Vista64 rig. Data files are kept on NAS, and 160G is way big enough for all my program files (no games). Win7 + Intel SSD = serious SMOKING HOT system. The differe...

Please help me replace my furnace.

I have an XFX Geforce 7950GT PCI-E passive which, as you may recall, is a hot little furnace. I have it plugged into a P5B deluxe and use a passive scythe as well. I have a 120 fan rigged to the inside side of the HD enclosure, blowing at these two "passive" heat sinks, and I've blocked up the enclo...

Scythe Ninja PLUS Rev. B - NOW WHAT?

Grr .. Installed 6700E with Scythe Ninja PLUS Rev. B on a P5B with hacksaw mod. Fits. However, temps just after o/s install with NO load stink (50s) with a Nexus fan at 800 rpm. Take off heatsink, look at surface (which I should have done before; okay, next time - now I know.) CHECK OUT THIS PIC: So...

okay, I have to pick up my daughter from school tomorrow, so I'll give you all a definitive air flow inny or outty. I sincerely hope that flow is out the front, cause if it's blowing hot air into the case, that would be way too STUPID! I can see fans ramping up pretty quick if it does blowing in! My...

Oh, sorry, you mean air flow as in which direction. Yes I'm 100% sure that hot air is exhausting out the front it's not blowing hot air into the case. I did feel the air coming out the front vents.

Yes, I'm 100% sure. I opened up the case and was very surprised at what I saw. Here is the 5150 on the Dell site. Go to product pictures, and look inside. You can see the air flow dumps in behind the handles in the front and the entrance to the air duct is exactly in over the vid card. The fan is sl...

Got all the bits for my new build except the Scythe Ninja which is on back-order until next week. I wanna build now, of course, because I could use the stock cooler, BUT does installation of the Ninja require an X shaped backboard mounting plate? (yes, with tape NOT removed). Don't really want to bu...

Is Asus P5W DH Deluxe mature?

Building a new work computer, so STABLE (and quiet and fast) is prime. Main elements in a p150 case to be: Asus P5W DH Deluxe MB C2 E6700 Thermalright XP-120 the new XFX 1950 passive (if I can stomach 60C idle!) QUESTION, with no overclock, has the P5W been around long enough for BIOS issues etc to ...

I have a Thermalright XP-120, and since this is a downflow cooler with the fins oriented toward a future XFX 9750, I'm hoping there's enough air flow so I can go passive. I HATE the 7800 fan I have now -...
