Antec Take 4
So - did anyone actually put their hands on this case? After time without using computer in my studio, I'm changing it about, so looking at the Antec Take 4 once again. I cant see any review on the site.... Not even sure what the PSU is in it or if it can be swapped if needed - there is not even a s...

Hey Tom Sounds great, but Im not so keen on no CPU fan, as Im in Australia, and the temps can get to 45c. In winter its not so bad, as the CPU won't get to 30 (I think the studio doesn't get much above 15 though....). I was thinking of making a duct to make the CPU fan also do the case exhaust. Thin...

Sweet. Do you think you would be able to describe the noise from different sides of the case ie how much and what type of noise from the front, back, sides etc?? And how much noise is power fan only. Would you be able to do a nexus fan swap out for comparison? My system currently uses 12cm nexus on ...

Antec Take 4 - 4unit studio rack mount case
Hi All Does anyone have any experience with the Antec Take 4 rack mount case? It seems like what Im looking for, as my PC sits in a dampened rack enclosure, with an open rear. I will soon be making some damping boards to go behind the back of the rack to make it a bit more quiet (yet still open). Cu...

Fantom 350 or put guts of stock PSU into old amplifier case?
Hi All Im looking to replace the PSU in my SLK3700BQE with a fantom 350, or remove the insides of the stock SLK3700BQE PSU and put into an old amplifier I have with huge heatsinks. Ive got a XP120 with a Nexus on it, current speed 960RPM, courtesy of QFan, maybe will be lowered further. Im wanting t...

Yeah, XP120 fits, just. Ive got about 2mm clear from the ram. Tight fit but it works. Yeah the fan is noisy with the stock SLK3700BQE. PSU is next on the list. Im just not sure if I will go a phantom350 or mount the SLK3700BQE fan inside an old amplifier I have and mount the hot components to the he...

Hi Ken Your system looks pretty similar to my one. Im running with: A8Vdeluxe AMD 64 3500+ (about to be mounted with a XP120 and a Nexus, maybe today if I get time.....) Seagate 40GB Baracuda 4 Samsung SP1614N couple of optical drives Matrox P650 (Uses only 15W, I found out by emailing Maxtor) - can...

A64 Fans & cool n quiet
Hi All I *thought* I had read somewhere that cool n quiet worked with only the original AMD HSF, due to a temp probe in the fan assembly. I have just put together a new system with a 3500+ (pin 939) and the fan has just 3 wires, which tells me that it doesn't use a temp probe in the fan assembly. Do...

Hi, Unfortunately I have no camera at the moment. It is a really thin piece of aluminium about 4cm x 4cm. 2 of the edges are rolled over by about 5 mm, and it looks like it is pressed onto the heatsink in the corners. Its really thin, maybe about 0.2 or 0.1mm, kind of like a thin piece of foil. It s...

thin plate on stock P3 933MHz Heatsink - Do I need it?
Hi All Im using the stock heatsink for my newly acquired (2nd hand) P3 933MHz CPU. This is due to a restriction of hight (it sits on a riser card). The heatsink which was given to me (intel) has a thin plate on it, over the processor area. The plate looks to be aluminium, with a thin black dried up ...

Low profile (<50mm hight) for a P3 933MHz on a riser card
Hi All Could anyone recomend a heatsink for a P3 933MHz that unfortunately will be sitting on a riser card. My mobo is a slot, not socket, so it uses a riser card. This means that there is a hight limit of about 50mm before it hits the RIMM continuity card. Yes, my mobo is crap (ie has a slot socket...

Samsungs in Australia (Sydney?) and should I get a cuda V?
Hi All Has anyone in Australia (prefer Sydney) seen a shop selling the samsung HD's? No one seems to stock them. Im almost considdering getting seagate V instead, but Im not sure if it is such a good idea. Do both have AAM? I am not so concerned about performance, just noise. I want to replace two 2...

Should I cut??
Hello All I have just replaced the crappy no name fan in my no name 300w PSU. The fan is now a Papst low speed. Its is an oldish computer - P3 600MHz with Matrox dual head (no fan), 2 x 7200RPM 20GB quantum HDs, External recording consol (multi in out) running from PCI card, SCSI card, and a couple ...
