Buying something from Canada - taxes, duties?

If I buy an used item from someone in Canada, what potential types of tariffs, duties, taxes, other could I expect either Canada or the US to impose on package?

Is buyer or seller typically responsible for fees?

Thanks in advance!

Anybody got the new MSI Wind PC?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... bwind%2bpc

Looks like it only has one (small) fan, which is hopefully swappable for something quieter if necessary.

Supports desktop hard drive, but seems like it could be very quiet if you put a notebook hard drive in there.

Just to confirm: When you put your computer to sleep, this external hard drive enclosure also goes to sleep? I had a previous external hard drive that wouldn't not got to sleep and would keep waking the iMac up once it went to sleep. Only way to prevent this was to physically turn the external hard ...

WD740GD-00FLA1: Should this be as quiet as SPCR review?

Just wondering if this revision of the Raptor is actually as quiet as the one reviewed by SPCR?

And if purchased used, can I reasonably expect many many years of trouble free service if there are currently no bad sectors on it?

How snappy is the Western Digital 1 TB Green Power hdd?

I know it has excellent platter density, but rpm is slower than 7200 rpm.

How snappy (instantaneous responsiveness) is this hard drive vs. a quality 7200 rpm hard drive (I have a WD3200KS with 3 platters).

Are people happy using it as a single system hard drive with a separate media partition?

I was just thinking that baseline cpu utilization (of both cores) would be higher since two operating systems are working simultaneously.

I thought this might produce more heat, causing fans to spin faster, even at idle, and perhaps changing a very quiet machine into just an average performer?

Are seeks essentially silent, or at least have a very unobstrusive character? I already own a WD3200KS, and it's idle noise is very very low and smooth, but seeks are rather sharp and annoying. I don't necessarily need more than 320 GB capacity, so two platters, rather than three, would be ideal, if...

That Athlon XP cpu doesn't have a heat spreader and the ones I've owned have been difficult to cool, primarily because it seems like the interface between heat sink and cpu are often not optimal.
