There have been a few with internal copper piping but it is more expensive, really hard to work around, requires skill to do the bends, etc.

Hi, You can heat 3/8" tygon with a heat gun, a hair dryer or hot lightbulb even I suppose. It will turn very soft, almost liquidy, and if you work quickly you should be able to coax it over 1/2" barbs. I first heard of this on the ProCooling forums. I do not know what Tygon would say about this dam...

Also, can you tell me how their PA160 compares to their PA120 series? I tried the link on the website and it didn't work for me... I am finding a rather steep price of over 100 for the PA120.2, but the PA160 is around 90. These prices coming from Danger-Den. I will shop around, but if it's not that...

Thank you very much for your help. I will look into the Thermochill products as well. I was at first considering an Asetek 120.2 kit, but I think it might be better to mix and match my components. I don't know what PSU you got with your 1650B but I've now had two deliveries of the Antec SLK3700BQE with the Smartpower 350W and both PSU have been DOA. Love the case but hate the PSU.

1) not much depending on what changes you make to the system. Personally, I change what's in my machines so often that I have to re-plumb the loop every time and that means emptying and re-filling the system :( If you don't mess with it, the occasional top-up of fluid should be all that's necessary....

Xtreme dissipates much greater heat with a given air-flow but because it is much thicker than the pro, to get the extra dissipation requires a more powerful fan (static pressure not airflow). Depending on the fan, the Xtreme can be more or less efficient. Reviews: http://www.overclockers.com/article...

1 x 25cm fan
Speed: 550~1000 RPM
Air Flow: 90.97~162.82 CFM (MAX)
Noise: 19.54~35.28 dB(A)

1 x 14cm fan with quad blue LEDs
Speed: 650~1500 RPM
Air Flow: 68.37 CFM (MAX)
Noise: 17.8~34.72dB(A)

At the lowest setting, that would still be quiet and great potential for a water-cooling system.

One thing to be careful of. Newer PSU with twin 12v rails can result in quite low amperage on each of the two rails. Older motherboards can then have problems with there being insufficient power on whichever 12v rail is powering it. I bought an Antec 3700BQE with an Antec SmartPower 350W and it can'...

I removed the IHS from my Opteron 146. It is very easy to do with just a razor blade as you're only cutting through some sealant. I have heard of some cases where the TIM between the die and the IHS was very poor and thus big temp drops were achieved. In my case, the TIM seemed fine and no temp diff...

There is a reservoir/case window available although that's not quite what you mean. It doesn't add any cooling capabilities other than bling.

Cooling the case is an exceptionally inefficient way of cooling the interior compared to simply water-cooling the heat producers - cpu & gpu.

If the Thermochill 160 is the PA160 then it is designed for low airflow fans but the Swiftech 120 isn't and I really doubt that a 5v YateLoon can pull enough air through to provide enough cooling for a dual-core cpu and a 7800. If you're prepared for the consequences of failure, I'd say give it a go...

The things go bang when cooled with the fans on 12v and you want to reduce the cooling capability? Sorry, but that's just silly. You're risking the entire computer in running with one of those.

You really shouldn't need a waterblock on a chipset. A good sink like the Zalmans shld be fine even if you're heavily overclocking. Very few chipset waterblocks are worth using as pretty much every one of them is very restrictive and will seriously damage your overall flowrate and therefore he cooli...

I've been using the same tube for several years withut noticeable detriment. MIght a new tube of AS5 make a 0.2C difference? Maybe but you'll never be able to exactly replicate every other test condition to isolate to the thermal goop. According to at least one source you might as well use toothpaste!

Thanks. But why would there be a 100W cpu? Doesn't CPU run in 2.8V to 3.3V x current? The no. should be a lot lower than 100w? I don't get it. And yet the graph shows it should be a 100W cpu. A 100W cpu is realtively easy. A Prescott3.6GHz cpu puts out 120W or more at full load. An over-volted Athl...

A lot of that thread goes over my head too. Head is how high the pump can lift water assuming no resistance and this degrades rapdily in some pumps and less in others. This is important as with a restrictive system, some apparently similar pumps will produce wildly different results. C/W is degrees ...

Just to correct one allegation in this thread:

If the Storm is 0.14 C/W and the 6002 is 0.16 C/W then at 100 Watts the difference would be 2C. To get 3-6C difference would require between 150W and 300W which would be one seriously over-clocked and over-volted cpu!
