Definetely quieter. That's the main reason I sold my 19" monitor. It had a contsant buzzing noise that drove me nuts. So I replaced it with an LCD monitor which is completely silent from where I sit. I haven't regretted the decision to switch and I've never heard of anyone else switching and afterwa...

Chill Vent
Anybody had any experience with this cpu vent/cooler? It's a strange looking beast to say the least. Wonder how it would affect case airflow?

Hence in my foolish pre-SPCR days I added a blowhole to my case. Fear not Fat Bunny (I love that name :) ). You could remove or disable and then tape up the 92mm hole on your psu. Then reverse the Enermax blowhole fan from an exhaust to an intake fan running at 5-6v. The 80mm psu fan would then dra...

Well it's update time for this old thread. It seems that I have ignored everyone's recommendations (thanks anyway) and went ahead and snatched up a Sony SDM-S73/B 17" LCD monitor at Newegg. I even went $75 over budget :( but I was so impressed by the reviews at Newegg that I couldn't resist the purc...

Don't know much about the Acoustifans but the Sunbeam has been one of my best purchases recently. What a pleasure it is not to have to open up my case every time (which was often) I want to tweak my fan settings. No heat issues or problems with it and it seems well constructed. I highly recommend it.

I don't have the monitor but have read some reviews on it. If you have a DVI enabled video card to connect it to, I'd say it looks it might be a good choice. You may want to also check out the Sony SDM-S73\B monitor at NewEgg. The online reviews at NewEgg rate this monitor very high and with a $50 r...

Re: help with psu experiment
When/if you reduce the airflow through the psu there are several possible outcomes: 1) It is still adequate cooling, psu lasts the rest of its life (however long that is) 2) PSU overheats - fails quickly with no side effects 3) PSU overheats - deteriorates slowly causing intermittent problems (BSOD...

Sorry, I forgot to mention a couple of things that need to change in my sig. The 120mm Papst has been removed from the front and placed in the rear as an exhaust. There is no fan up front anymore. The blowhole on the middle top of the case has been taped up for now- I believe this blowhole en...

help with psu experiment
Here's my situation. I have an Antec SL-350 psu and am now noticing that the loudest fan in my system is the 80mm exhaust fan (Panaflo L1A) from this power supply. The system is quiet so I guess that's why I'm hearing this "new noise". It's not really noise, it's just louder than everything else. Th...

Welcome to the forum. :) Good job on your server but why remove the sound dampening material, unless you're having heat problems? I use plain old carpet in my case and it does seem to muffle the sound somewhat. I don't think you'll see much noise/vibration reduction by replacing the fan screws with ...

Re: Newbie! Need some advice on modding Antec's Smartblue
I've been thinking of changing its fans to Panaflo L1, and I know how to do it. I've read the article on how to change fans in psu. But is it worth it? I mean will I notice the difference? I believe you will. When I removed my Antec SL350 stock fans and replaced them with L1A's, it reduced the nois...

I think you can scratch all the Thermaltake's including the Silent Boost. Heard it was a real whiner even at "21db". I've heard nothing good (quiet wise) about Thermaltake fans. I really can't recommend any of the ones you've listed. Maybe others here can. What about using a Fanmate on your stock fa...

Yes, if the stock fan is too loud. But keep an eye on your HDD temps. When I removed my front case fan, my HDD temps went up 10C. So I put it right back in.chylld wrote:80L: serving as an hdd fan atm, eventually it will replace the fan in the PSU (SL350S) (is this a good idea?)

[quote] I don't have one. My original plan was to put the Papst in the rear of my Antec SLK3700AMB case. I even removed the grill to help airflow. Also cut out the front grill while I was at it. Then I cut a blowhole on the top of the case for a 80mm Panaflo L1A. After that I started to experiment w...

I have a Papst 120mm 4412 fan that I use in the front of my pc to cool my HDD's. It is undervolted at 7V and it makes no clicking noise at all. The only noise it makes is a soft wind sound that is pleasant but can only be heard if I put my ear right next to it. I can't here it at all from where I si...

Quiet monitor recommendations
Well, it seems that I have a new noise problem that I was never aware of before. My pc is certainly quiet enough after all the mods but now I can hear my 19" monitor (Samsung) buzzing away. I've had it for almost 2 years and love it but this constant buzzing is getting to me and it looks like it'll ...

Your shroud idea is a great heat/noise solution for your video card. I don't know how hot the 8500's get but every bit of hot air that you can quietly expel from your case is a plus. I'm fairly close with my ambient temp of 20C and case temp of 23C. I can remember a few months ago while I was workin...

Well, I believe I'm done and am pleased with the results. I couldn't have done it without all the ingenious ideas that came from this forum. Many thanks.
