Re: New HTPC build (streacom FC10 alpha)

I can't comment on the difficulty level of assembly...there are a bunch of Streacom reviews. Seems workable. They have a lot of info on their site. I'd opt for an H97 over the B85 for HTPC. Better DPC latency, better firmware. Make sure your pick meets the CPU placement rules for the case. If not s...

I will purchase a p35-based motherboard. Where can I find info on what Asus mobo feature speedfan-controlable headers? Id like more than one... Do I have to purchase a deluxe board with alle the crap that I dont need? I think the p5kc looks promising. Passive cooling and firewire for an ok price. -k

It cannot do that until you disable Q-Fan in the BIOS (offtopic: smilingcrow, sorry, I just haven't had the time to play around with this).
I know, but it wont control the fan even with Q-fan switched off.

I have "jiggled" with the scythe cooler, and that seemed to do the trick. Right now I am doing : System = 41C Core 0 = 46C Core 1 = 46C Core 2 = 40C Core 3 = 40C All temps from speedfan 4.32 running Vista at low load and the casefan at low speed (cpu-cooler fan still at 12V). I would try reseating the Ninja, but yes the Rev B has been quite bad for Scythe... The Q6600 has a TDP of 105W, so it puts it at about the level as a 3.6GHz Prescott. Yes, you get 4 cores, but it does create a lot of heat at full tilt. yes, but I was under the impression that scythe ninja was amon...

Will swapping the Thermalright 120 ultra for a Scythe Ninja make much of a difference?

Hoping to use speedfan for fan control.

You dont know anythig about quieting nvidia 8800 cards (or which are quietest as delivered)?

Are there any high-quality low-noise PSUs out there that allows external control of its fan without voiding the warranty? mCubed T-Balancer integrated with Mobo sensors?

Is it possible to integrate the MCubed T-balancer fan-controller with MBM/speedfan applications so that the CPU-fan is controlled by CPU internal diode in stead of some less precise external sensor? Or is it just as well to control CPU-fan by speedfan then, and leave the mCubed thing to do system fa...

No revolution, but I am trying to solve the three common HD silencing problems: a) airboren noise b) structural noise (vibrations) c) getting adequate cooling For this, I have bought a 0.2mm cupper plate, and I am looking for foam of decent properties. The thought is to put the HD in a "box" of foam...
