i have a shuttle zen (st62k), which has an external psu. I run a P4 2.6C undervolted to 1.2V. There is one single fan left in the system and it runs at 1300-1400rpm. CPU Temps are 37°C under full load (folding)! I highly recommend the st62k ... just undervolt the cpu :) Markus Very interesting. But...

VGA silencing idea

I've got a Radeon 7500 with a little fan on it. The heatsink is glued on, and there are no holes to install a Zalman. So I've got another idea, but i'm not sure if it will be enough. I would take the little cooler off, and install a 92mm at about 5 centimeters away from the heatsink, blowing on it a...

Could be, to be 100% honest. Depends on the air intake temp to the psu and the load on the psu. If you check tables B & C in the SPCR review of the 300W Tornado you can see for a 150W load the default fan is driven at 5-5-7.2V, and at 300W it is driven at 12V. Now the default fan is doing around 30...

The radiator is in an external case, under my pc-case. Its heat doesn't come into my pc-case.

Isn't 5 V extremely low voltage for a PSU?

Modded SS-300FT with pics

The noise of my SS-300FT was not acceptable. (if i opened a JPG, the fan went faster and louder) That's why I replaced te Superred with a Papst 4412 FM. I cut the grill out too, who needs fingerprotection inside a case? Here's my question: how much volt should i give to the fan? (case is watercooled...

As per my sig I replaced 1 of mine with a Papst 4412FGL. Also as per Bri hacked out the grill (on both of my Tornados - might as well once you have trashed the warranty): didn't bother with fancy rubber mounts - just re-used the rubber washers that came on the fan SeaSonic supplied. How much volt d...

Do you mean something like an airduct? A tube that connects the outside with the lower side of the PSU?

5V trick

My last PSU, a 300W Aopen has always run on a Papst N2GL on 5V. Never had any trouble with it. Once I forgot to connect the cable, so it ran fanless for about 2 weeks. I had to get rid of it because of some soft coil noises. (it probably always made that noise, I just started to hear it when I was s...

I have a ATI Radeon 7500 with a heatsink and a little fan on there. Is it possible to take the fan off and only use the heatsink for cooling ?(heatsink=about 0.5cm high)

Seems like too much trouble to buy a PSU in the UK if you ever need the warranty. Yes, but I can get the PSU at 10km away from where I'm staying in the UK. I'm visiting a friend in the first place, the PSU is a nice plus. Has anyone ever had a Seasonic that died? (not the fan, but the rest of the P...

Isn't it easier to replace the fan with a papst? Or can the PSU itself also get broken? (and then you need warranty offcourse)

Is the whining because of the fan or because of something else? (like coils etc.)

Yes, the SS-300FT was first in the reviews. But i noticed a lot of people who had problems with that PSU on this forum. It's impossible for me to return it to the shop if it doesn't work, because I don't visit the UK that often.

I'd definitely go with the Zalman, it's no contest. The Zalman's been reviewed here at SPCR and is also on the SPCR recommended PSU list . BTW - WELCOME TO SPCR!!!! Thx for the welcome. This site is really what I've been looking for! Silence is golden ;) I heard from someone who owns a computershop...
