You could use any wire meant for 12V, and just twist it onto existing wire ends. Insulate with tape. Connecting a 12V fan directly to a wall outlet (115V or 230V) would probably result in a VERY fast and VERY noisy fan for a VERY short time! The fanblade section might even tear itself lose from the ...

looks similar to the deep impact cooler with the massive heatpipe in the middle. It is fully possible that it IS that cooler, with some modifications. I have seen MIST do this with other equipment, for example the now so famous Fortron/Source PSU with 120mm fan . This one is modified to have a Paps...

I have a 300w forton in a antec 3700amb, using the asus p4p800 nondeluxr mobo, and the 7000alcu on the 2.4c. Everything fits with plenty of room to spare. Also the rear grill on the fortron had to be removed because it didnt fit in my case right. But I removed it with a screwdriver in a matter of s...

Re: Fortron 350W w/120mm fan
Is this Fortron any larger than a normal-sized PSU? I ask because I plan on using the Zalman 7000A HSF on an Asus mobo, and Zalman cautions that there must be adequate space between the HSF and the PSU. It is normal ATX formfactor/size. Only thing worth noticing is the fangrill, which extends a few...

Papst, Enermax, Panaflo, SmartCooler, Titan... etc...
Which one to choose? After reading this and other forums, as well as several websites with info, I'm totally confused now on what type of fans to choose for my quiet system. Untill recently, I thought Papst made some of the most quiet fans available, untill I heard about problems with clicking noise...

If this actually works as well as ABAQUS888 says, I would say it's a much better idea than what silvervarg said: If I just put watercooling with a radiator out the window I would get the same effect without the drawbacks. It might not work daytime in the middle of summer, and I might need to put ant...

Modifying an FSP350-60PN(PF): What fan to choose?
Hello, everyone! :) I have a Fortron/Source FSP350-60PN(PF), which is the European noisy variant of this very good PSU. Now I'm planning to replace the fan with a more quiet one. Original fan: Yate Loon D12BM-12, 1700rpm, 60cfm, 39dB Options for new fan: Papst 4412FGL, 1600rpm, 55cfm, 26dB Papst 441...

So it is either Fortron ATX300GU 300W "HiQ Brand" at $22 or Fortron ATX350GU 350W "HiQ Brand" at $20 or Fortron FSP350-60PN 350W at $36 ? If you know that your next system will need more than 300W, I guess the first option there is out of the question. I have the "expensive" one myself, and I'm very...

I'm in Norway, which is NOT the capital of Sweden. It is a country of it's own, bordered by the North Atlantic Ocean in the west, and Sweden to the east. Our capital is Oslo, which many of you have probably heard about.

I believe 1x120mm will be more quiet than 2x80mm. First of all, it is the diff between 1 and 2 motors running. Secondly, a 120mm fan can move the same amount of air as an 80mm, but at a lower speed. Thirdly, the noise from a 120mm will be of a lower frequency, so it will be less annoying than the no...

If the Zalman isn't good enough, you might wanna try to get one of these babies:
Swiftech MCX159
It comes with a fan to begin with, but I'm sure this fan can be removed when not needed.
Good luck!

Thanks for the warning... I might reconcider making my computer more quiet, if it means I'll end up getting annoyed by my monitor!Pete wrote:I guess when you get the quiet bug, you're hooked for life.
