The SilentBoost is an excellent cooler. I have run one in each of my desktops for 8-9 months now, replacing a Zalman flower and a Tt Volcano 7+ set to quiet mode. The silentBoost is, admittedly, not silent at its default 2450 rpm @ 12v, but if you use a Zalman Fanmate to turn it down to about 1900 r...

Problem is that it is hard to source any FSP's in Canada, at least through my dealers. Zalman and Tt are the only widely available quiet PSU's. An online retail has recently started carrying Seasonic, but with some of the complaints about Seasonics lately, I'm not so sure about them now.

Interesting, energy. I guess I won't be buying Zalman 300 watters now. Amongst the PSU's I can get where I live, the Zalman 300 seemed like the best value -- combining the silence of the quietest PSU's with a good price. In fact, I was going to use this PSU in my next PC unless Seasonic improved the...

I've found the ZM400 is noticeably quieter than the ZM300.
I find it hard to believe that a 300 W PSU is quieter than a 400 W -- especially when from the same model line and silent design. Was the 300 W you had an older version, which was louder than the current generation of Zalman PSU's?

Oh god please don't say the name Vantec Stealth. It brings back bad memories. Actually, I am using 2 Vantec Stealths in the PC beside me right now, but I have them throttled back to 1,000 rpm or so otherwise they would be annoying as hell. When I first got them and ran them full speed, I was quite f...

Oiling dying/dead fans works quite well for a short time. I have used WD-40 to get seized fans running again; done it numerous times in the past. Only problem is that especially with WD-40, the fan will seize again in a month or two.

And when you look at the hideous Xaser III V1000's things go downhill fast. It's not even an SX10x0/Dragon, it's some el-cheapo ripoff that's "dressed-up" with 7(!!!) fans and no PSU for around $115-125!!!. And if you add one of the generic TT PSUs to it you're looking at $140-190 for this POS!! LO...

I agree with Thermaltake being one of the more marketing driven, style over substance companies out there along with Vantec. But they do make some good products that represent a good value. We shouldn't ignore their entire product line because they happen to crank up the bling-o-meter a little more ...

Are all 3 of your Super Silencers problem-free? I assume you read the Super Silencer threads where a number of people were disappointed with their units.

Yep. Unplug the power cord from the PSU and turn on the PC to discharge the caps. Works like a charm. I have opened up over a dozen PSU's and replaced their fans over the past few years with not even the slightest shock. Unless you're stupid enough to touch the capacitor terminals, PSU's are general...

The Tt SPP 420 APD is actually a decent and very quiet PSU. Some people here have been unfair to dismiss it as "bling bling rip-off crap" without even giving it a chance. It's not as silent as the Zalman and Seasonic PSU's, but it is quieter than most Antec and Enermaxes, and does allow you to adjus...

The Tt 420 and 480 W APD PSU's are actually decent and yes, very quiet. Not silent like Zalman or Seasonic, but better then most Antec and Enermaxes, and you can regulate the fan speed via a rheostat if desired. And, you can get them for a decent price as well, especially the 420 W APD model. You do...

I have the Zalman 400 W unit. Dead silent. Excellent build quality. Works well. I would recommend the Zalman 300 W. Seems to be a little less problems than the Seasonics.
