Anyone else notice that the VGA Silencer machining sucks?

I got mine yesterday and gave the base of the heatsink my standard roughness test. I ran a fingernail over the base of the heatsink and yesh that machining sucks. When I did this on my Zalman 7000-AlCu it was pretty smooth (the Alpha PAL8045 I used to have was even better!) but the VGA Silencer's ba...

even better ... The INQ understands that the Pentium M is such a successful chip that in 2005 Intel may integrate the low wattage CPU cores into one four way die. now, what's the reputation of this website concerning rumors/... ? would that be too good to be true ? Take any story theInq writes with...

FYI: Canadians and Americans looking for cheap VGA Silencers

FrontierPC has the rev. 2 on sale for CA $21.99 + shipping which works out to be ~US $17 or so. Shipping was CA $11 to have it shipped all the way across Canada, I have no clue how much it is for Americans but I'd guess it wouldn't be much more. I just checked and SVC has dropped their price to USD ...

Check out Dynatron low profile heatsinks. They have several heatsinks made for amds that could be made to fit a video card. Keep in mind that not every cpu cooler is going to fit on a gpu without hitting various capacitors ect. Measure it first. I'm more interested in the blower right now. The heat...

Need quiet fan for Thermalright CB6L

Previously named - Quiet Blower: Anyone had experience with one? - and moved to proper forum - admin I was thinking of buying an Arctic Cooling VGA Silencer for my Radeon 9700 Pro, but after giving it some thought, it's not worth CAD $34 + taxes and shipping when I could build myself something bett...

Have you seen this thread? My PC has a chimney I just read it, the idea is similar, but I just want to cut a hole to let the air out, no chimney. The idea is really just to use convection, I think the case otherwise has enoughair circulation and in a good pattern. Two intake fans, near the ground, ...

Cutting a fanless blowhole in my case - good idea or not?

I've been seriously thinking about doing some case-modding on my Antec SX635 case. I had an idea that seems to me like it wood be good, but I need some confirmation on its effect if anyone has tried it. I'm considering cutting open a blowhole on the top of my case but not putting any fan on it. Esse...

If you look carefully at the Panaflo fan label, you should have something that looks something like this http://pages.infinit.net/chrish/panaflo_tail.jpg (Yeah, I know, my macro photography skills suck) Red lines up with the '+' label, blue/black lines up with the '-'label' and 'S' is the yellow RPM...

Can I have some piccies please? You know what they say, a piccie paints a thousand words! Ask and ye shall receive ;) putz I hadn't considered the possibility of a reverse current, but as you said, I'd be surprised if you draw any more than an amp or two even if you put many fans in, as long as the...

Has anyone found Hitachi 7K250 SATA drives in Canada?-FOUND!

I'm looking for either the 120 GB model or the 160 GB model, has anyone found an online retailer that has them in stock in Canada. I've looked at all the usual suspects and haven't found them. The only place I've found them that will ship to Canada is zipzoomfly.com and they want to charge US $70 fo...

It has been argued before that the 7V mod is not that great for the PSU. You will be using the PSU in a way it was not designed to, so depending on how your PSU is designed this might not be a great thing to do. I would much prefere putting diods on the hot wire that goes to the fan. A quick check ...

Oh, sorry! I just understood what you meant -- you are modifying the 3-4 adaptor, not the PSU Molex connector. My apologies. It should be noted that this will not affect other things on the main PSU "branch" as you called it, but it certainly would have an adverse effect on any non-fan components y...

Quick/Easy 7V mod for fans w/3pin tails - Now with pics :)

*Disclaimer* I am not responsible for any damage to your system as a result of this mod. I just wanted to write up this quick mod that I came up with for all the Panaflo users out there using 3-pin to 4-pin converters. It's real simple to do, it only took 10 minutes from beginning to end :). I've b...

Primarily, but it does lose a couple of things in the re-porting: Such as SMP support (not an issue since there are no SMP socket 478 mobo's) and 2 of the DDR channels are gone. But it does gain the 800Mhz bus of the 478, and support for ordinary (unregistered, without ECC) DDR400 SDRAM. I was unde...

Actually its a souped-down Xeon MP.

(souped-down? I think I just invented a new phrase)
Actually, it IS a Xeon MP core in a 478-pin package as far as I can tell.

Thanks for all the answers everyone. The swiftech seems like a nice piece of hardware but it's way more money than I'd like to put in for northbridge cooling so I don't think I'll be getting that. I do have some airflow coming over the Northbridge in the form of an 80mm Panaflo L1A (running at 12V f...

Zalman NB32J heatsink on an OC'ed i865?

Hello, I've been lurking for awhile but I finally have a question worth making my first post :) I am currently in the process of silencing my PC because I find the noise is getting excessive. First thing I did is I bought is a Zalman 7000-AlCu that I put on my CPU, I'm currently running it without t...
