I've just been using cpuid recently and it's been working great. I'll probably just keep using this until I switch to a Conroe setup. Thanks for all the tips though.

Cool'N'Quiet - Can someone help me out?

The new 1.3.2.14 amd cpu driver which allows you to enable cool'n'quiet comes as an .exe file instead of just an .inf which really sucks (for me anyways). Problem is that it wants to install onto a C: drive, but my primary drive is F: so the installer won't even start and I can't get at the inf file...

If you want silent without dropping $200+ on a new vidcard, I've read good things about this Silent VGA Heatpipe Cooler The X800 silentpipe has a higher quality cooler, makes swapping heatsinks unnecessary, and costs the same as any othe 256mb X800 on the market. I picked it up for $170 after rebat...

It seems to be the cheapest dampening kit available on the market right now and for $10 it gave me a pretty significant improvement in noise. Especially the thicker egg-crate like foam that I mounted on the door. On top of dampening noise I've also found that it helps seal small holes allowing you t...

i've tried both zalman 7700 and northq 3312 on an asus premium 925xe, where the NB is located close to the cpu. Honestly, at low speeds, neither of them cools a lot, maybe 1-2 degree celcious. You'll need to run them at medium or full speed, before you could call it serious cooling. Actually, after...

How do I attach fans using Sunbeam Rubber Fan Screws??

I bought a four pack of these rubber screws for $4 at jab-tech here, but cannot for the life of me figure out what the hell to do with them. They don't fit through the screw holes in the case for fan mounting nor can I wedge either side of them into any of the fans I have. Anyone have any ideas??

I'd probably be ripping out the 7700 fan and replacing it with a 120mm yate loon @ 5v. Same fan config for the XP-120 minus that whole having to rip out a poorly made fan routine.

XP-120 vs. CNPS7700alcu to cool a passive northbridge?

I'm trying to decide between a XP-120 and a CNPS7700alcu right now and its come down to which one will cool my passively cooled (blue zalman chipset cooler) northbridge better. I'm also using a Gigabyte X800 Silentpipe that could use any additional airflow it can get. Which heatsink do you think wou...

SLK3000B w/ 3000+ Venice XP-120 setup and 3 yate loons

This is my planned revision for my current setup (all parts are in the mail). Not sure whether I'll be running the fans at 5v or 12v. Guess it all depends on how loud these yate loon fans actually are when I get everything installed. Specs: Venice 3000+ @ 2.7 (9x300) w/XP-120 & 120mm Yate Loon Antec...

Seeing as the FBA12G12M1A's run at 35.5 dBA / 86.5 CFM @12v and 19.5 dBa / 36 CFM @ 5v I figured that a FBA12G12U1A rated at 45.5 dBA / 114.7 CFM @ 12v would probably run at around 48 CFM / 25 dBa @ 5v. Just found a Panaflo 120mm FBA12G12U1A at sidewindercomputers for $12 which looks like it'd be great with the XP-120 I now have in the mail. This is a 2750 RPM, 114.7 CFM, 45.5 dBA fan. Any chance it would be even remotely close to silent at 5v?

Panaflo vs. Nexus vs. Yate Loon? Best fans for this setup?

My new setup is the same as the one in my sig only with a passively cooled gigabyte X800 replacing my old 6600GT and an XP120 replacing my Freezer 64. Figured a heatsink swap was in order so that I could generate some airflow around the X800/passively cooled northbridge area (my NB47J gets pretty to...

cheapest quiet 120mm fan @5v?

I've got a slk3000b right now and am looking to pick up a pair of 120mm fans (one for the front and one to replace the stock antec fan). Other than my Arctic Freezer 64 these will be the only fans in my system. Anyone have a recommendation for a cheap option that will run near silent @5v?

As virtually any 12cm fan produces ample airflow for a PSU even in it's quietest mode, I doubt that a 14cm fan will offer any benefit. Of course it provides an additional benefit. A 14cm fan pushes more air than a 12cm at the same noise level thus doing a better job of exhausting case heat and prev...
