(god, the Mac OS really was a billion miles ahead in those days) Aren't they still ahead, maybe not with a billion miles, but still? I never heard any bad about Mac OS X. I'd really like to try out Cherry OS or some other emulator, but I don't expect much from it, will search for some reviews. Eh, ...

hmmm, reminds of some computers we had back in college. they were Macs of some sort, but if you pressed a certain key sequence they would boot as PCs. yeah, OrangePC cards, those were basically NuBus cards with a 386/486 on them. was too young then to know/care much about the specifics (like what e...

My Fan Controller Blew Up!
Ach! My Vantex Nexus 205 exploded! I received it yesterday, and sat down to install. Plugged everything in, and attached the plugs for my intake (Panaflo L1A) and exhaust (Antec TriCool) fans. Powered up the machine, and everything was good. Didn't notice the buzzing that some folks have mentioned i...

Re: AGP 6600GT Passive
Now, if they could only make an AGP version of it. It would save me the trouble of buying one and trying to fit an aftermarket cooler on it that fits weirdly because the GPU is in a weird place. Isn't this what you're (and i'm) looking for? http://tw.giga-byte.com/VGA/Products/Products_GV-N66T128VP...

CoolMax CR-550B: 140mm Fan!
While browsing the forums over at 2cpu.com, I came across recommendations for CoolMax's new line of PSU's: http://www.coolmaxusa.com/powerSupply/CR-400.jpg These come in 450, 500, and 550W models, and each sport a single top-mounted 140mm fan. The individual rails on the later, are: +3.3V@30A, +5V@5...

Sale: Panaflo 80mm L1A @ $5.00 CAD
Hey folks, Thread title must be pretty self explanatory, but here's the details. Vancouver online shop Vibe Computers is selling Panaflo 80mm FBA08A12L fans right now at the low low price of $5.00: http://www.vibecomputers.com/index.cfm?loc=iview&if=n&vID=200910 I'm picking up at least two, for a Du...

Personally, I'd love to see the reviewers try a dual-processor setiup in this case. I've been planning a new Xeon rig for quite some time now, and I think I've found the perfect case for my plans! There's not much info out there on quieting dualies, though. Personally, I don't believe that they have...

Bottom line: How noise/quiet will depend on what you do with it, as usual , but the options here are... plentiful. And that , combined with the various noise damping / heat separating functions, really is point of this case. Here here. Well said. Negative nellies obsessing over fan counts need to a...

Awesome. This will be my new case. Dual Xeons with fanless Coolermaster heat pipes, sitting cool and happy next to those twin 120mm exhaust fans. Looks nice too, although I agree that the two-tone aesthetic could be improved on. How about all black or all silver? Great work, Antec. I was wondering w...

On that Silverstone TJ06, the PSU cools the cards? Yeah, by default. I plan on getting the case myself, and figure that an Arctic Cooling NV Silencer will cool my 6800GT, the wind tunnel design with dual 120mm fans will cool my CPU and RAM, and the PSU (maybe with cool air ducted from the front) ca...

Same question, different model:
EG701P-VE SFMA
I need silent power for a Dual Xeon rig I want to put together, and am wondering if the 600W Noisetaker is as quiet as the 475W version.

Reviews I've read say it has pretty crummy (loud) accoustics, althout cooling is awesome. No suprise with all those fans and openings and whatnot. Forget the TJ05.... review the TJ06 ! Now there's a machine with potential. Low-noise 120mm fans, wind tunnel cooling setup allowing for passive CPU heat...

Heh, that's pretty funny. I was going to post a new thread on this very case just last night. Pretty cool, eh? The 'wind tunnel' even has an adaptor of sorts for dual-processor systems. The review seems to say that the BIOS allows users to specify temperature ranges and corresponding fan speeds. This would be obviously beneficial in so far as it would allow for quiet operation (low fan speed) while working on non-intensive tasks (most of my time is spent in Photoshop, for example)....

Evercool's AL12025 Aluminum 120mm fans seem to have the best CFM-to-noise ratio, pushing a lot of air at very low noise levels, and without the vibrations and clickery of other models like the Panaflo. Some solutions I dug up:
Active SMART
HDD Temperature
SMARTDefender
... but of course, none of them support drivesin RAID setups (although they each claim to be working on this feature).
