Not quite NAS, but I do have an old server at closet behind 100mb/s. For most of the stuff it is fast enough. It is not as fast as a local drive, but it is not untolerable. Video streaming works well, even multiple streams. I at times make copies of my installation disks there to keep safe and fast ...

Second one here. The good news(?) is that I can also hear my laptop these days (the hdd, not the fans) so I guess it is much better. But damn, it never ends once it has started. and gets expensive once you start to experiment with things that _might_ help a little further.

Well, I've had a little similar interests myself. At the moment I am about to give up on doing it in any quiet manner. The trouble I'm in now is that the number of HDDs grows quick and all those spining plates... I would imagine you hit the very same problem*. The best idea I have so far is to get a...

There is 20meters of 19mm poly tube. Poly tube is 8 bucks for a 20 meter roll. Hardly costly to put the radiator/pump/fans far away. This is with all the respect.... You're the man! Now, on more serious note. Your setup gives me an idea or two once I have a house of my own and am rich enough to hav...

Finally I can (pretend) to show I know something.. :D More seriously, I have been running quite a similar computer in quite similar purpose for some 3-4 years now. It is not quite as old as yours (400MHz Celeron, now with 128MB of ram), but given the current level they are not that much far apart I ...

How permanently is the cage for external drives attached? I'm still harboring vague dreams of cramming an EATX board into one of these cases, but it looks as if it'll take a fair amount of surgery to pull it off. I would be interested to know that as well. I may be a bit of an odd bird in this foru...

Re: What is the best SMALL but quiet HSF for Socket A

Hello. I'm currently watercooling my AMD dually system (whisper quiet), but I've decided to try moving it to a rackmount case and aircool it. Just out of the curiosity, how is/was your watercooling setup configured? I'm running dual 2800MPs here and was wondering about watercooling too, even if at ...

Interesting!

This is a bit similar to my mod with TruePower 550W, though this one has been taken a bit further. I didn't try to put both of the fans on the case side of the psu: http://www.hut.fi/~jpkaasal/cooling/psu.jpg http://www.hut.fi/~jpkaasal/cooling/psu_2.jpg How is the back of the PSU? I know it matters...

2. My PSU is ENHANCE model NO: ens-0555 (550 watt). I believe that fan in it is quite loud also. If it's not main issue. 3. Case fan is Sunnon 90 mm and it doesn't sound that bad What does it take to replace power supply? I do agree with the posts the you have gotten already that the first thing to...

Also at some point next week, I'll be getting a FireGL X1 card (presumably). I can measure power the power draw of a dual XP system with a high-end video card, and can tell you if you'd be able to get by with a 400W PSU or not. Also, how'd mounting the ACVGA cooler go with you? Was it a problem? No...

Re: Silent Dual Opterons?

I was wondering if anyone here is running a dual Opteron rig that is silent or close to silent. I'm interested in making the switch to a dual system, but I've not heard anything about the noise associated with it. Any thoughts, recommendations or opinions? I can't tell about opterons, but am runnin...

I did not get the problem with 120mm fan into the PSU and getting close to the CPU fan comment  Pardon me for being unclear, let's see if I can explain it better. Problems silencing a dual MP2800+

Hi, Been around lurking for a while and reading, studing, building my own system for a while now as I got tired of the noise last autumn. My system was originally in Antec SX1040BII (and still is), but new case is being bult in SLK3700AMB, being painted at the moment. So, first I had dual 2100+, whi...

Why not have floppy but not in your case?

So, if we manage that 99% without a floppy and the only thing we need it for is OS install /BIOS updates, why not have a floppy drive temporarily onnected? It only needs a power and data cables anyway, so having a side open for a few hours shouldn't be that much of a problem?

I have a smilar situation, sthayashi, with too noisy dual 2100+. I started my own silencing project and decided to get that TP550W to replace 400W Fortron I had before and have something to play with. If you decide to mod it, could you take a few pictures from the inside? I'm especially interested i...

Another first post

Heh, my first post too! Been here from september, I guess, and now working on silencing my dual AMD MP2100+. First ever documented project of mine, though not near ready yet.

Duh, back to painting the new Antec 3700AMB as I get back from work... ;)
