So what exactly does the [RPM]-[BLACK]-[RED] do in comparison to the normal [RPM]-[RED]-[BLACK]? Does it run the fan at 5v? Reason I'm asking is because a fan in my Cisco Catalyst 2950 is going downhill and it uses the odd configuration that the liberty uses. I was going to get a faster SilenX fan (...

Cool Barton 2500+ plus with these fans, good idea?

Hi all, I have a VMWare Server running with a Barton 2500+ @ 2000+ (motherboard limitations, will experiment with lowering voltage) that is currently using a really annoying 80mm CPU, quiet 120mm PSU and Global Win "Ceramic" 120mm fan for exhaust. I would have liked to get another "Ceramic" 80mm for...

I'm fairly excited about my new Athlon 64 coming for this reason. But I bought a Winchester core so the Cool'n'Quiet speed is 1000Mhz with less electrical leakage then the old Clawhammer cores.

It looks like a nice unit but according to a http://www.3dvelocity.com/reviews/seasonics12/s12-4.htm article it's 12v rail is really wimpy for it's wattage. That makes it a bit questionable for nForce users since both our GPU and CPU run off of the 12v rail.

That looks like an awesome case. I'll have to wait for it to drop in price. As a big plus it would allow me to buy a single 80mm fan Seasonic PSU since that airway would be ducted.

The -12V and -5V are just grounds. You can test all the voltages, 12V, 5V and 3.3V with a digital multimeter. ;) Is my method of testing the 3.3v rail correct then? Thanks! :) Yes, that is one way of doing it. Some PSUs come with a 6 pin aux connector. The orange wires are 3.3V. You can measure fro...

A *digital* multimeter will measure your +5 and +12. I dont think there is a way to measure your +3.3 or -12 rails. That's alright. The -12v rail means nothing to me and if I wanted to measure the 3.3v I would probably have to insert the taps into the 20-pin ATX connector and jump the PSU. But that...

I have a Fortron 350w Aurora. I am very happy with it but the +5VSB rail is almost 10% off. Everything else (according to the BIOS anyway) is within 5%. Can anyone tell me if this is a crucial rail to keep on mark? And if it is failing, I'm looking at the new Fortron Blue Storm series. Mainly becaus...

I really hope Shuttle releases an XPC chassis for the Pentium-M. I would seriously consider dumping my massive Chieftec case with AthlonXP for one of these.

What's a good way to cleanly mod my Chieftec case.

I would like to cut the large grills out of the two 80mm sockets on the back of case because I think they are causing lots of air noise for my Panaflo L1as. However I would like to hole to be a clean cut and (possible) be able to attach a grill like http://www.newegg.com/app/Showimage.asp?image=11-9...

Looks very interesting, but they seem to be pushing it towards imbedded applications, just like some are doing with the Banias/855 Intel CPU. Seems to be the implication - I'm reading the data book a little more closely - the 'technical specs' are anything but. The only tough thing is the the voltage requirements are even lower than the average mobile from 1.0 to 1.25V I couldn't find that. Is the 1.25v for the NX1750? Looks like some of...

How to calculate wattage for processor?

I have a 2500+ (1833Mhz) running with a 1.3v core stably. Now I was wondering how I could calculate the wattage as I am trying to figure out total system power consumption. If it helps it runs at about 38c full load with a 92mm Panaflo L1a at about 7v.

Thank you!
