Hi,
I am searching in this forum but I am not finding the info I need.
I need to build a system with:
1) (probably) asrock n3150-dc motherboard or another under 10watt DC motherboard
2) one ssd
3) one 2tb hard disk
Which high efficiency power brick do you suggest?
Thanks,
Mario

Re: Reduce speed of 4pin cpu fan
Hi,
following your suggestions I avoided bios control and used linux lm_sensors/pwmconfig/fancontrol.
Now there is an automatic configuration script and so setup is very easy.
Now my fan spins at 800 rpm as I read in the review of the cooler.
Thansk again!

Hello, the hardware is quite old: -motherboard asrock k10n78m -case silverstone for home theather ultra short -cooler alpenphoen panorama -os ubuntu (not windows) -used cpu fan The cpu temp is under 40 and the fan goes at 1800 even when just poweredup. Reduce speed of 4pin cpu fan
Hello,
I have bought a "silent" low profile cpu fan.
Unfortunately even with motherboard quiet fan control it does not go under 1800 rpm
I need a fan controller that reduces the rpms of that fan.
Can you help me?
Thanks,
Mario

I will use it as a server. If you keep it on 24h/24 after some time it hangs due to memory errors.
So, if I can choose, I will choose ECC.

Re: I need a prebuilt system around 10watts
Thank you again for your detailed reply. I am reading all reviews of current nuc and previous generation nuc. I cannot find reviews (that shows idle power) of haswell brix and zbox id18. I want to be sure that brix is really power efficient like intel nuc. But I almost sold for a nuc. Thanks, Mario

Ops I forgot the obvious...
Anyway idle power is better than I hoped.
Unfortunately price is a bit high.
Is there a thing like this with lower price?
Thanks,
Mario

Hello, I would like to wait for a reasonable priced baytrail or avoton motherboard but now I have to quickly buy something that: - needs around 10watts. Re: Smart fan controller for UPS
You are sure that you will not burn your place? Because it seems like that fan is moving some air out of the usv. If you drastically reduce the cooling, you could run into serious thermal problems. Worst case could be the overheating usv is causing a fire. So, fan swapping yes but keep up abreaonab...

Hello, I have a beautiful (but noisy) online Xanto 1000 UPS. I am replacing his fan with a Noctua NF-r8. I would like to also add a thermal controller to further reduce noise. Great news to hear!!We should have samples of that Jetway and the Intel DN2800MT in the next week or two
I add some other motherboard I have found meanwhile:
jetway NF35-T56N / NF35-T40E
axiomtek pico100
ibt MI958
ibase MI958
This ones are based on amd G-series embedded apu at 5/9W
Bye,

Re: Clarkdale or SandyBridge for lowpower server?
The motherboard is going to dominate idle power consumption. People used to get 15W idle or so with Clarkdales so Sandy Bridge is only a marginal improvement. The i3 brand has nothing to do with virtualization. If you want a server chipset for ECC and want low power consumption, going with AMD migh...

Re: Clarkdale or SandyBridge for lowpower server?
I will not include hdd because I need less than eleven ;-) and I probably will use 2.5 low power. Anyway, just to be simple, let's focus only on cpu+chipset. my mini mi build (check sig), idles around 14W, but with 3 fans, my guess is with a single fan you could get close to your 11W desired, but n...

Thank you for your reply. I have opened another thread for Atom server (I will use for firewall). This time I need a core i3 for virtualization. Clarkdale or SandyBridge for lowpower server?
Hello, I am reading many review and I am confused: what is the difference at idle in wattage between: - clarkdale i3 (or i5) with 3420 intel server chipset; - sandybridge i3 with c202 or c204 intel server chipset. Clarkdale price is half as much of sandybridge... Thanks in advance for any help! Mario

It's technically possible so you never know... Your best bet in my opinion is to accept higher power consu...
