Zalman Heatsink for videocard You will want that for your vid card. I really dont like the seagate harddrives. they are not quiet even on idle. I would get a samsung or a western dig that is black. They are far quieter then seagate. I would just get 2 gigs of corsair value ram. i use that right now...

I am guessing tho that they use a normal 3.5 HDD since it is 200gigs? that is gonna be the onlything making noise unless their is a small fan.

still kinda neat for HTPC

you could go cheapo and get the asrock 939SATAII mobo, it has a passive northbridge.

alot of those little fans mobos come with can easily be replaced. zalman and thermalright has many coolers for them

Hi

1.I think the Tricool should be fine as i believe your harddrives will be louder then the fan at lowest. i never used the antec500, so good luck with that =P

2. no you shouldnt need to patch anything up. but cant hurt to try if you are not to happy. better simple first.

could you post the specs on your optical drives and the enclosures you use for them?plus the USB hub

I always wanted to put my spare NEC 2500 in an external enclosure but i was under the assumption that burning dvds like that is not very good.

i looked at alot of laptops while i was shopping for one and NO P4 laptop will be quiet, The P4 runs too hot and then when you add a vid card it has to have a fan to keep cool. Go P-M, with alviso out, you should have good performance.

Fujitsu S6231 is UBEr quiet, silent with HDD change out

I just got the Fujitsu S6231 last monday. Even after hours of prime95, the fan never turns on and it barely gets warm(just on the bottom) The harddrive has a little access noise when in use. but it is really not that bad and i am sure a HDD switch out would make this into a silent machine. I am use ...

if you are going to mod this PSU, you will have to cut the wires as they are soldered on a mini PCB. then you have to either resolder the new fan wires on or use a fanmate.
