It's also possible that you've reached the limit of the chip. An unstable overclock can be caused by both temperature and not enough voltage, but I wouldn't expect much out of that chip.

Back to the original question of this thread, this case gives Zalman some advertising. No other company is crazy enough to make a product like this and now people know it  .

Why wouldn't there be an increase in heat again? I was under the impression that the same factors which make a proccessor faster, also make it hotter. I could use some elaboration.

Lian Li are nice, but I still haven't seen a reason to justify their costs.

I personally have the Black Knight and I'm happy with it. Since I've never used your other considerations I can't make a comparison, but dual 120s and a awesome drive cover make it very appealing.

I would also like to recommend the AlCu version. It's fairly heavy in it's own right and I would be uneasy adding another 100 grams to my processor. With my 2.6 at a high overclock I get about 50c at full load. That's with poor case airflow mind you. The potential increase in the Cu version doesn't ...

I may have been misinformed, but I believe magnets lose their energy after a period of time. He's just converting a magnet's energy which will eventually die out.

perhaps the relatively low waterflow actually *helps* the cooling since the hot water coming from the cpu has time to circulate and rise inside the reservoir instead of being sucked right back into the pump.. Actually that's not true. There is a greater thermal transfer when there is a greater temp...

Well my overclocked rig is at 46°C load according the the motherboard. The Zalman can handle plenty of heat, although I'm fairly certain that the Sp-94 is a better performer. It will only be as loud as the fan you put on it, and a panaflo or a papst with a shroud should push enough air and stay rela...

Whining

My HDD randomly starts whining. Sometimes the problem is there right from bootup. Sometimes it takes a while before it starts. It's a very high pitched annoying sound and I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions on a cause. After a reboot the problem normally stops, but sometimes it doesn't. I can't ...
