I too thank you. Very good information. I also have a 4850 with a S1 rev2 on it and was hoping to reuse it, but was concerned with the placement on reference boards. One other question for you, does your HIS card properly down clock your GPU and Mem (and/or down volt) while idle? I've heard of some ...

I'll second that!
I'll second the Accelero S1 rev2. I have that on my 4850 running passive. It's great. Low temps and no sound
Can't go wrong with that.

Same issue here...
I just ran into the same problem with my SOLO case. I tried "going out the front", but it just did not fit (so close...). I had to bite the bullet and remove the mobo.

Back in early March, MikeC said that at some point he'd be testing the lower power Enermax models to see how the noise/power curve changes, and also to confirm that the performance of the reviewed 625w version was not a fluke. I just wondered if there was any ETA for this review yet, as I'd be very...

Anyone here got the 4850 and tried cooling it passively? I've already found some horror stories about overheating VRMs, people hacksawing original heatsinks, using fans to cool the card... Just a heads up, I have the ASUS EAH4850 in a new build. I didn't like the card's fan noise or the temps, so I...

Lol yesterday i bought 2 WD 640GB drives. If id known the F1 was so quiet i might have gone for those. Oh well, the 640's arent slow or loud, and a big improvement over my current drive. :) Mike C, I'm looking at either the same drives that FartingBob just got or the F1 750 from this review. I know...

I just updated my BOIS on this board (from 8/28 to 9/13) and my NB temps has shot up in speed fan to around 55C. I verified this with the finger test. It's around 2 seconds before it needs to be removed. I'm not sure if they just raised the voltage to the NB, or what. Does anyone know how to check t...

Update 3
Well, it looks like the issue is my monitor. I was able to bring home from my work a Dell 1901FP monitor (same revision even) and it works great. I was not planing on getting a new monitor with this build, but I guess that is now out of my hands...

Update 2
As an update of sorts, I have Crystal CPUID running and have the system down to the following three states: 10.5x (2.1 GHz) @ 1.050 V 8.0x (1.6 GHz) @ 0.925 V 5.0x (1.0 GHz) @ 0.800 V I stopped on the high end because I thought that was "good enough", not because of any errors in orthos. This is a n...

Re: Update
Nice. That should be one of the best AMD matx mobos so it's good to hear it's working well with speed fan. Armed with this info---you should try running the 2 faster fans 1+3, down around 800 rpm,or #3 at 800 or less and the CPU set up variable with 1060 the max speed. You can run 10C hotter in eac...

Update
After some experimentation, I believe the following: Temp 1: Northbridge Temp 2: System Temp Temp 3: CPU temp, measured by the mobo Core : CPU temp from the proc NOTE: I had to add 10°C to the Core temp to bring it in line with the value for Temp 3 and the temp from the BIOS screen. The northbridge...

Hi Deliriou5, A have a few question if you dont mind, I want to build a similar setup. Do you use the stock cooler from AMD ? How does it perform ? Do you have by any chance a picture of it ? At what speed does the fan on it run and whats the noise level ? What case do you use ? And what brand are ...

BioStar TA690G and Speedfan 4.33
So, on the speedfan site, it is indicated that in this new version of speedfan (4.33) "ATI SB600, Intel ICH9 and nVidia MCP55 SMBus are fully supported and devices are discovered through them." I'm thinking, "Great! I just got a SB600 board." So I downloaded it and gave it a try on my new build: Bio...

Re: Two 690G builds
Frank2003 and all, This is a great thread with some really good info. I'm looking to put together a new build using the Biostar TA690G-AM2 and a BE-2350. I'm wondering what HSF you guys are using on a system with this low of a TDP. Are you using the retail HSF? Is something like a ninja over kill? C...

I have the CPU voltage set in the BIOS to 1.250V. CPU-Z reports the idle voltage to be 2.00, and at full load with Orthos the voltage drops to 1.168 (gotta love Vdroop!). Jason, I'm kind of confused about what you're saying. Are you saying that even though you set the voltage in the BIOS to be 1.25...

Where to find...
Well, I got mine off of E-bay. They had "end users" selling them, along with e-bay e-tailers. I did end up having a problem with mine, so I RMA'd it back to Gigabite. It was still under its 3 year warrenty The one I got back from them works great.

Temp monitoring
Hey all, I have this card just found out that you can use RivaTuner 2.0 RC 15.8 to monitor the GPU temp. I had always heard that this could not be done, so I was very happy to find out that it can be done. Mine is Idling around 57 C in my 38 C case. It hit 71 in the aquamark3 benchmark. Just an FYI ...

However, if such a low power card as the X700 is adequate for your needs you could use a passive cooler to get a noiseless cooling solution. I thought that the jump from a 8500 to something in this "low power card" range would be enough of a jump that it will be worth the $100 - $150 price. Since I...

Your experience with HIS X700 IceQ?
I'm looking for feed back from anyone with first hand experience with this card, or anyone who has heard it. In it's silent mode, is it quiet ? I'm currently running a Radeon 8500 in my box, with the fan unpluged, and as such, have enjoyed it's quite. It's about time for an upgrade, and my AGP optio...

I'm stuck with a 8500 and looking to upgrade, but am worried about noise. How loud did it turn out to be? Is that "silent mode" really aro...
