Only one of my 14 clients has picked up one of these, but it will take 76 hours in total and is worth a whopping 177 PPW, which is less than a third of what I get with Gromacs. In other words, I sure HOPE this is not the beginning of another plague. David We also noticed sTINKERS since Thursday nig...

Re: EOC Individual Overtake Page

Here is a new feature of the EOC Stats - the individual overtake page. It's like the regular conquests & threats page, but lists all members of the project, regardless of team. Go to the EOC Stats All Users List , find your name in the list, and click on it. Take TRC-13 for example. He is at #118 o...

As a matter of fact, we just successfully tested a diskless folding cluster made up of a MB, CPU, Memory, and PS (of course monitor is nice just to see if everything is okay.) certainly it's uncalled for. if ARM throws up a pile of points to help their team reach the EOC overtake before we do, it's FINE. that just means more research getting done. if we get some ribbing for not passing EOC first, it's all in good fun. sometimes it can be hard to be competitive and still ...

I might be mistaken but $60-$36 is nowhere close to $5-10. In fact, it seems that solution based on SP-94 is approx. 2x more money than 700 AlCu. Is it really 2x better? I doubt it. Anyway, you guys asked for our opinions, I expressed mine. It seems that there are people on this forum who'd like to...

As for the Thermalright SP-94, the list price on that bad boy on their website is $59.95 stripped bare - without a fan, fanmate, or Artic Silver 5 compound. This was exactly my point. Why would I pay more for SP-94 while I can get 7000 for less with fan and fanmate in the kit? I think it was shown ...

This flash up scenario doesnt really exist. A cpu switching from cool > hot has the same dissipation as hot always. Thus a heatsink (al or cu) that can cool it running prime95 should be more than adequate for short bursts of activity. This is why we use prime95 etc in the first place. The flash up ...

Re: P4 3.0GHz cooling

I have installed a P4 3.0GHz CPU on my Gigabyte board and have 2 questions for the experts: 1) The CPU cooler (standard Intel unit) is running at 5,600 rpm to keep the CPU temperature at 46C. It is very noisy. The question is: Is this RPM normal or I need to do something else? The standard Intel P4...
