Well 270fsb on an Intel system isn't that high , I guess that any motherboard could handle it with the right ram. That said , the world record for fsb belongs to an (extremely modded) IC7-G doing a bit over 400fsb. No manufacturer is perfect. Many people had problems with Abit AN7 until later bios r...

Damn , I stand corrected , it seems there is a hack to get 3.8Vdimm , although it doesn't seem to work all the time or on all boards. That's pretty nice for BH-5 ram , although 3.8V will require huge heatsinks (not heatspreaders) and some fan over the ram to avoid meltdown. My point isn't that the D...

A few corrections. The DFIs give 3.3Vdimm. To get over 3.3V you'll need to mod the motherboard AND the PSU's +3.3V rail. And DFI users also depend on hacked bioses to get by. In fact , DFI's regular bioses not only suffer in overclocking , but are also barely functional... And to clear a misconsepti...

From what I've seen , unstable memory usually leads to huge artifacts while an unstable GPU can lead to random crashes and freezes. So probably the GPU is the problem. Just try putting a fan near the Zalman or maybe underclock the GPU a bit just to make sure. You also might want to reseat the cooler.

First of all , in an AthonXP system , you shouldn't buy anything over PC3500. All PC3700 and above have disgusting timings (3-4-4-8 anyone?) in order to get very high fsb. That works for Intel systems (not that great) , but in an AthlonXP system , you will NOT be getting 260+ fsb , not in any easy w...

I made one out of a dead psu. Emptied it's case , hacked it up as necessary , lined with foam and bolted to the outer side of the case. BTW , my case has a removable PSU mounting plate , so I just had to reverse it , in order for the muffler to bolt on it. The actual PSU is not bolted , just sitting...

I agree with Mojo-Chan , refrigerators can't handle a continuous heat load , so it will only work for a very short time ( = not worth it ). Even so , if you turn the pc off long enough , the water will get very cold and condensation will form ( = you'll need insulation ). So , I don't think it's eit...

I have a 1250. I agree with chylld's remarks about 20-25% better flow than 1048 , it is also significantly louder , hotter and more expensive. But , in my experience the temperature difference is more like 3-4°C (with a 100-120W cpu) , so around 0.03C/W. That is , considering that you have a radiato...

Why do you want an second independent loop? I suggest you try adding blocks to the reserator. Your cpu (2.6@3.0) is a piece of cake for watercooling , your vga is also pretty cool and the nb produces very little heat anyway. Actually , I doubt if your cpu+vga+nb produce as much heat as my cpu alone ...

My second PC has a GF4MX 460 , which had a whinny little fan. I just epoxied a cpu HS on it. An aluminum boxed one from an AMD cpu (without fan). It keeps cool just fine and even allows more overclocking than the stock HS. I suppose you could get something like that pretty cheap or you might even ha...

Yes , I know about the mods , but haven't done any voltmods on this motherboard. That's because while BH-5 can take high voltages , most people using >3.2V 24/7 do it with ***ACTIVE*** cooling on the memory.... Hell , my memory doesn't even have heatspreaders... Plus , if you want to deliver over 3....

Will that even fit inside the case? It should be pretty close. One note though , while the Inq says this is a Prescott HS , the motherboard's plastic frame (under the HS) doesn't look like socket 478 or LGA 775. It looks like AMD socket 754... EDIT: Just looked at the ASUS site... The motherboard pi...

A 9600pro/XT will be a lot cooler , but it will also be a lot slower. It may be a good choise , if you can live without AA & AF. Since your problem seems to be moving the heat out of the case , a VGA silencer would be another option , since it dumps heat directly out. A watercooling solution would o...

I suppose you're going to remove the inlet barb (it's useless when submerged) and the plastic feet. Without them , the pump is around 5.5"L x 3.5"W x 3.5"H (without the outlet barb). Since you want all of it to be submerged + the 1 inch clearance + the thikness of the tank , I suppose you'll need a ...

From what I've seen , submerged works better for silencing. However some means of vibration dumpening is still required (again from what I've seen , sponges seem to work OK). As for heat , when inline , most of the pump's heat is passed to the water , when submerged , all the pump's heat is passed t...

Not all CH-5 sticks have voltage regulation , very few actually , most work just fine with obscene voltages. Not even the ras-to-cas = 3 is a law for CH-5. There have been reports of (very rare) CH-5 sticks working with 2-2-2-x at 200+ fsb , but only on nforce2 motherboards and not showing any impro...

@ trodas Any very thin wire will do , as long as it's not insulated. However , to my knowledge , the L12 mod helps only on Abit NF7 & NF7-S , so I see no reason for you to do it. Nate's zalman should be cooler than yours , he has much better case ventilation + a fan right next to it (the cpu fan). @...

The modded tictac bios has all the benefits of bios D10 (working 10x and 10.5x , no 222fsb wall) , plus all the corrections that abit did since the original bios. I think that the zalman on the nb should get very hot , but then again you aren't using a high chipset voltage so I'm not sure. If everything else fails , remove it and reassemble (you might have bad contact). For modded bios , look here http://s6.invisionfree.com/underclock/index.php?showtopic=9 I'...

The 3 corresponds to ras to cas delay , since your memory uses CH-5 chips , it 99.9% can't work with ras to cas = 2. Chipset voltage is the voltage fed to the northbridge. Increasing it helps reach higher fsb , but overheats the nb. Row active of 11 is almost always better for nforce2 motherboards. ...

A mobile barton will run just fine on most desktop motherboards. However some motherboards will have a problem with autodetecting it and most can't give 1.45V so they'll overvolt it to the next available value. A mobile @ 530mhz , 0.925V would consume ~5Watts. But I don't think any motherboard can s...

So your problem is the shim (the metallic square around the core)? I solved that by filing the base of the silencer by 0.5mm as to create a square that is smaller than the shim , so now my silencer has perfect contact with the core and doesn't touch the shim at all.
