I just bought a Turion ML-32 and a Socket 754 motherboard (Foxconn 760GXK8MC-RS) at bargain prices on Ebay (GBP26 and GBP11 respectively!) for an HTPC I'm building. I hoped that this combination would work as the 760GXK8Mb was reported as supporting Turion chips on that Japanese site. The processor ...

Gazebo, I have 4 Samsung SP08x2N HDDs. The most recent purchase was an SP0842N, and it ran 7C hotter than the other 3. But when I checked the HDD temp immediately after an overnight cold start, I discovered the startup temperature was 7C higher than the room ambient. In other words, the reported te...

Despite this experience I just bought a HD300LD drive and installed it in my PC alongside a P80. I am glad to say that the seek noise is low - certainly within a dB ...

Don't be too sure about ordering from Mcmaster from the UK. Despite their site offering worldwide shipping and no minimum order, this was the reply I got when I tried to order some sorbothane. We decline to bid on your inquiry. Our export business is very limited and we prefer to do business only wi...

Being UK based, I too found that McMaster's customer service did not inspire confidence - just give us your credit card number and we will debit an unspecified amount. (No we can't tell you how much it will cost beforehand, how we will dispatch it or even check with you before dispatch!!). However I...
