It's not a novel, it's a forum post, use your imagination to insert full-stops, or don't, I don't care ;) His job sounds like an awesome opportunity for couriers, documentation and teleconferencing, technology is amazing, you can do surgery remotely, make a plane or car that can operate autonomously...

I think you must be confused, I never at any point stated I am a scientist and I am not throwing scientific numbers about, frankly I am a bit confused as to why a scientist appears to be doing the job of a delivery driver, surely your impressive brain could get you a nice cushy desk job, all the dri...

edh, it's almost as if you're arguing that diesel undeservedly has a bad rap, it is a less refined form of fuel compared to petrol therefore it's dirtier, you can put lipstick on a pig but it's still a f#c*ing pig: http://www.theguardian.com/environment/2013/nov/10/pollutionwatch-petrol-diesel-clima...

Edh, you mention Glasgow are you Scottish? http://oecdinsights.org/2013/06/19/avoiding-death-by-diesel/ I didn't buy a deisel because diesel is shit. I drive a brand new Prius V, it doesn't get marketed here in Oz, 5.2l/100km average right now, its petrol and has a pretty small ICE, I had my last ca...

edh, you sir/madam are an idiot, you can copy and paste from datasheets well but you clearly have no bloody idea about the real world, a prius is thrown away after 10 years is it, Land Rover Defender has a better overall environmental impact, care to elaborate? Do you work for big oil?

Re: Interesting PicoITX boards with AMD G series
G'day everyone, any thoughts on creating a kickstarter or indiegogo campaign so we can buy enough of these to interest the manufacturer and get the price down?
Thanks.
Richard
Thanks.

Re: PicoPSU problem!
My guess from looking at the link is you are drawing too much power from a rail, probably the 12v. The 90w is probably more suitable for a much lower wattage cpu. Upgrade it to a heftier pico psu, maybe the 160w and a 12v brick, the pico just passes the 12v through making your life easier. --Richard

How do I work out if a Pico PSU can handle my components
Hello, So I have all the bits I want to run on a PICOPSU-160-XT but I don't have the PICOPSU or brick yet. I do have a 300w ATX PSU and I want to use this to test if I get more than 8A draw on any of the lines, the problem is I don't know how to do that, can somebody help? I already have a kill-a-wa...

Re: I'm going for an external psu
Thanks Jim. So as an update. ASRock Z68 Extreme4 bought (I need the PCIe slots and bandwidth) i5 2500t 8GB RAM 4 x WD10TPVT (5 VDC, Read/Write, 500mA) PCI card (3.3V or 5V, 5W max) PCI-e (powered from 3.3V and 12V, 2.5A and 0.14A maximum, respectively, a total of 10W maximum) PCI-e (3.3v, 1.3A) PCI-...

Re: I'm going for an external psu
Thanks for the info Jim. I see the specs for the 10G card - 10 watts The two PCI cards are 8 watts each It isn't as bad as I thought. There is no link to medicine (I was referring to the electrodacus 130 watt pico from ebay), its a security appliance. So roughly: 45w cpu 20w motherboard 16w PCI 24w ...

Re: Ultra compact ATX case
Thanks Luke, you mean I should buy a normal part like: Intel Xeon E3-1235 (with onboard P3000 video) 95W TDP For $79 cheaper and underclock/undervolt it? Or go for a non Xeon? I kind of like the idea of the low voltage part and as long as it's under $100 difference it's OK but I am probably missing ...

Ultra compact ATX case
Hi All, I am about to buy a motherboard, the Asus P8B WS, it's ATX. Now this is for (high-speed, low noise) firewall. So the question, has anyone seen an ultra compact ATX case for sale, here's what I was thinking: Just a little taller than a PCI slot Just a little wider and deeper than an ATX mothe...

Re: 24 hard drive bay "near-silent" server build
Very, very, cool, I would have went down this path if i had space in my house for a rack. Instead I got a guy (Spotswood, he is doing a worklog in the modding section of OCAU) in New Hampshire (i'm in Sydney) to build me a cube that takes dual EATX motherboards/PSU's and 24 disks with the aim of it ...

Thanks for the advice, much appreciated. The material is Aluminium, i'm not building it but on the sketches it looks very sturdy. 24 disk storage case
Hi I am having a custom case built and am looking for disk recommendations. The disks are nose down in a "cage", 3 rows of 8 disks, the disks separated on all sides by metal rods covered in rubber, the end of the disks rests on a rubber strip, so no disk touches another and they disks don't touch me...

is there any way to make a dvdrom quieter in its firmware or something, the noise only bothers me when I am listening to dvd-audio I have a pioneer slot loader, surely dvd-audio only need single speed operation, single speed would be quieter than 8 speed you would think, if dvd-a could be ripped I w...

Thanks for your suggestions - Attach the drives conventionally to the cage I would have to build a cage because the case doesnt really have enough space as it is to mount 8 drives with a decent amount of space between them at the front? It has 4 x 5.25 bays and two of those removable 3.5 bay things,...
