This might be moot considering the Big Shuriken fits. But I wonder how the NT01 would perform. According to Silverstone it can cool a 65 watter passively. With the introduction of the Clarkdales, which are very viable in an HPTC, it could probably be used in conjunction with the NT01 in passive cool...

Static Pressure test.

I found this article to be interesting, not sure if it's been posted here before.
I'm no expert when it comes these sort of things, maybe someone else can chime in on the effectiveness of this test.

To zyrobs:

If I understand correctly you're not sure how to mount a fan to the S1. The easiest way to is to just zip tie them to the heatsink. It's the method most used and works perfectly.

Yeah I'll never understand, they went through the trouble of developing a new design and then skimp out on something as simple as a bolt through kit.

Hi Scott,

Was looking into this fan for an HTPC build, what are your thoughts of the fan? Did you successfully undervolt it?

And thanks to the OP for a great review.

I'm in the same boat. Been looking for a mini-itx case for a dvr build, which also means I need a good amount of storage, but prefer a desktop style case. The only one I found is the Silverstone LC12. But that has no cooling what so ever. Good if you're going Atom/ION but I'm shooting for an i3 buil...

Actually the FT-02's fans can be replaced easily. Apparently the mounting is for 140mm fans, which there are plenty of, and some decent ones as well. But since it mounts on 140mm you can always use an adapter. Here's a link to an example: http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1429251&page=43 If I we...

That looks great. I was worried about upgrading my 4850 since I have an Accelero on it and it's dead quiet.

The lack of aftermarket cooling support for the 5850 is very bizarre. But glad the Musashi works. I hear the Accelero works as well, but requires a bit of modification.

I can't comment on which fan to use. But I don't know if this mod is even possible, I mean Xboxes are fragile enough.

But check this out!

Crazy expensive. I think it's $699 for the case itself, and probably a pain to assemble.

Congrats on a great build. A few questions though. Are you using the stock cooler for your CPU? How about your video card, stock cooler on that as well? If you want to be experimental, try an aftermarket cooler for both parts. Specifically the Scytha Ninja or the SI-120. As far as the video card, yo...

The Nforce2 boards don't detect the Mobiles for their default settings. Just change the multiplier to in your bios to make it run at 1.8 ghz (I believe that's the stock setting for the 2500+ mobile). So it would be 133fsb x 13 multiplier. And stock voltage is supposed to be 1.45 or 1.35, I don't rem...

There's actually a review on this very site with the SLK-900, and of course being the reference fan the Panaflo L is used. So check that out.

But the answer is yes, that fan will work quite well.

The 120mm Panaflo L1a will not fit in the PSU it's 35mm thick. If you're insistent on modding it then I'd try the Papst 4412FGL. www.siliconacoustics.com has it. Also if you're going to mod the power supply you will have to cut the fan wires and solder and heatshrink since there is no fan connector....

I don't remember if newegg is still shipping CH-5 Buffalo Tech ram. But I'm pretty sure Mushkin Level 1 is CH-5, which would explain why prices have been rising on this ram (limited supply). I dont' really remember which ABIT mobo it was but I think you have to modify the zalman heatsink to fit it. Something about cut or shaving off a metal part of it. do a search you'll come up with it. I used the Verax/Directron sticks as well.

But I'd remove the fan if I were to take the PC far distances (Lanning).

I've never had trouble with it when moving my case from the desk to another area in the house though.

But Bluefront's method is best if you want totally secure.
