looking forward to it. MikeC, you do the best reviews of any tech site in my opinion, even for non-silentpc related stuff... e.g. the Squeezebox review awhile back.

very nice fitting build!
too bad shuttle doesn't have a 780g barebone. I like the case and the fit, but intel matx sucks IMO.

holy smokes nice build! what do you mean by "if you really want silence, 4 is a minimum" I was under the impression less fans = better. Are you saying that with 1 intake you had to run the fan speed so high (for temps) to where it was actually quieter to run 2 intakes with @ a lower speed? As others...

how effective is the padding on the door?
the door for me is already a huge factor in noise reduction. It drowns out a lot of the front intake and hdd.

- Soft rubber bands for hard drive suspension (We "all" softmount also) - An optional seal for the top vent (We "all" do that as well here at SPCR) - The lower chamber height should just barely fit a 120 mm fan (smaller case). I also ordered a noctua 1200, some nexus fanmounts, and 2 fanmates to coincide with the weekend build. lets see the big picture! :?: You want a b...

My proposed silent parts upgrade

i bought an opteron 165 for the silent p150 i have in my sig. unfortunately, the cooling rig i have in the p150 just doesn't cut it for the 165, so im going to move to a p180 (for the purpose of future upgrades as well). heres what i have planned: Thermalright ultra-120 extreme 4x Yate loon D12SM-12...

heres what im thinking 3x Noctua NF-S12-800 (1 for rear, 1 for top, 1 for upper intake) 1x s-flex SFF21E (1200rpm for ultra-120 extreme) this is for a planned quadcore build early next year. i will be running a topend video card and plan to OC as much as i can. is the 1200rpm S-FLEX overkill? Actually planning a similar rig when the q6600 drops late July.

So the smaller power cable can't be ran through the back somehow?

Why not relocate the HDDs up top so you can ditch the bottom fan?

What kind of sflex is that? Can you give the model name?

Is that the ultra-120 extreme?

92mm for a 90mm?

ok this may sound really dumb, but would i be able to install a 92mm fan (the nexus) in a case fitted with a 90mm. i imagine the screws just wouldn't line up. any thoughts? i guess i could soft mount it with zip ties which is probably wat i should be doing in the first place.
