Any silent UK system builders still in the works?

Hey folks - I figured it's about that time where I should get a new system going for me. However, since I don't really have any time to build it myself, I was wondering whether there's anyone in the UK (large or small) that builds genuinely silent, high-performance (gaming) PC's (or anyone on here?)...

DFI board troubles...

Hullo there lads & ladies - it's been a year, time for me to post again :). I've had a PC built for me about a year ago by a fellow SPCR'er and in general it (was) quite fine - being nice and quiet. Until a few days ago, where the whole thing went just dead - no beeps, no POST, no video - niente, na...

This German site (the link I gave is from Google Translate so it's translated to English) has reviewed it. They don't seem hugely enthusiastic. But then I'm having some trouble with the pseudo-English ;) I've read the review (helps that I can speak German) ... 44 dBA (albeit at a distance of 4 cm, ...

The results are in and I'm impressed. After I put in the order for the S1 I realized that the S2 would have been a better match for the 4670, being smaller and all. Based on results, I'd say the S2 is more than adequate. First a word of warning, you have to slide the mounting bracket all the ...

Where have you seen matte black UV reactive computer pimping parts? My point was made by you - it's more about the "target audience" than an actual quality of the fan. More "bling" to sell, as opposed to actually try and be quiet(-er) while pushing out more CFM's. Most folks on here don't particula...

I do have to chuckle at some of those statements. The WING case fans are premium quality, UV reactive, ultra- quiet, dust and water proof cooling fans for gaming enthusiasts. ... water proof? Just where/how do they think we'd use these things. Anyone have their cases immersed in water? If we did, I'...

Nicely collected, edhanson865.

"Good" to see that so little changes in NVIDIA's generally "screw you" attitude. Let them (deservedly) suffer where it hurts in return (not that it's likely to make them act better, but hope remains...).

Everything I've read to-date pretty much requires active cooling when using an S1 with the 4870.

Curse AMD for making it a bleeding radiator, but ah well ... :)

I have the S1 rev.2 on my 4870, and im using the stock VRM / memory cooling plate and it fits fine. I removed the red aluminium plate from the stock cooler, it's just a few screws, and then mounted just that on the card and the S1 on top of that. Works well but definately needs a fan on the heatsin...

Not necessarily.

It depends what the code of ethics entails. If they're all rules about being a self-centered git, then there's no dilemma at all and they're beyond reproach.

... can you tell I'm cynical when it comes to politicians (not politics) :).

Its unfortunate, but like sound, ethics and morality are subjective for each individuals... They're not, actually. Or rather, not both are. Morals are defined personally - whether you feel that (say) robbery is acceptable or not. It's a personal matter, your personal moral make-up. Ethics is differ...

It sounds like a "more respectable" version of the G15 (which I have). The G15 has got 3 illumination modes, I would expect this baby to be similar. These modes are: 1 - Off. 2 - Mild illumination 3 - Strong Illumination Incidentally the "oversized delete" is primarily a European standard - it's som...

Hmm - thanks for that info, Modo. Most kind :)

Guess I'll be sticking with the original plan of the S1 then (and either the 4850 or 4870 - undecided yet).

Meh - the least they could've done is put a proper passive heatsink on one would've thought... ah well :).

Is there a lead time for reviews - this would certainly be a prime card to be reviewed here, to compare against the Accelero S1 ... if the difference is not that significant (it depends on how smart they were) ... certainly seems quite promising :).

I'll dig up somewhere where nVidia reprisantives listed how useless SM 4.1 and DX 10.1 are and why they basicly didn't integrated those features with new 8800-series. Aye - the coolers are a pain at the best of times.

If you do manage, it's not so much the "PC Builder of the year award" but rather the "How's he turn his fingers into thin air, yet can still exude force?" I'd be curious about.

Do it outside - you'll save yourself a lot of nerves + grey hairs :).

Oh? What isn't "good enough" about the multimedia properties?

I'm genuinely curious, as most of my "multimedia" usage involves playback of either DIVX or DVD's so I'm not exactly a "heavy user" :).

Any thoughts on the "next Gen" of NVIDIA?

I'm kinda curious if anyone's had any particular insights on the new generation of NVIDIA's coming out (slated/delayed for Feb/March now it seems). I'm less bothered about the "top end" slugging match for pure performance, but don't mind getting the new DirectX and shader support - as long as the ca...
