Where did you find the black "support beam" you used for the graphics card?

I'm looking for something similar to support my drooping graphics card.

Your warranty is void, if you open the case.
Are Mac cases sealed in such a way that mac-technicians can detect you opened the case?

I hope you're planning to use a (very expensive) 7200rpm 2.5" harddisk, since a "normal" 5400rpm model might be a SERIOUS bottleneck in your system.

jesus, check those prices
7200rmp 2.5" hd 60gb --> nearly 250€ (in Belgium that is)

Can't you replace the loud shuttle psu with an external (fanless) one?
You could bolt the external psu to the side or top of the case to maintain (a portion of the mobility) of the system. Power cables could be routed trough the hole in the back where the standard psu used to be.

Soltek barebones are quieter than Shuttle barebones (without any modding).
Soltek barebones use a 80mm and a 92mm fan, the shuttles use a 80mm and a 40mm fan.

Yep, it's a Dell dimension 8250. You're right about the psu ventilation, the intake vent is nearly non-existent. Some tiny openings on the back of the psu and that's it. But in my case, it isn't possible to sacrifice a 5.25" device. I'll have to choose between a dvd-rom and a cd-rw. I need both of t...

Is the heat uncomfortable for you or your computer? The heat is especially uncomfortable for the pc, because the cpu fan ramps up after a while and stays at the same (high) level after the cpu intensive task has finished. The back of the desk is covering up the power supply exaust on the case. I am...

evacuating heat from under desk

My pc is sitting on the floor under my desk. When the computer has been running for a while, a lot of heat builds up under the desk. The temperature around the case is far above the ambient room temperature of about 20*C / 68* F. Mainly because airflow is blocked by the wooden sidepanels en top of t...
