Help! Connecting ATi Silencer 5 to FanMate 2

Hi everyone, Does anyone have any photos on how to connect the ATi Silencer 5 (it has a three pin connector) to the FanMate 2? I've tried connecting it, but when I put connect them together the fan does not move. I have also tried connecting the ATi Silencer to a 7V fan connector (which works with o...

I'm not really interested in SLI, but chose the A8N-SLI Premium for its good features and passive cooling. SLI will never be used.

Is there another non-SLI passive Athlon 64 939 motherboard with similar features I should consider?

What do you think of the specifications? Is it good for low noise? :)

Which Arctic Cooling ATi/NV Silencer for 7600GT + X800GTO2?

I'm thinking of buying either an nVidia 7600GT or a ATi X800GTO2, and am wondering which Arctic Cooling ATi/NV Silencer to purchase for each?

I've looked on the product page and think the X800GTO2 may need the ATI Silencer 5 (Rev. 2), but there isn't a listing for the 7600GT.

If you're talking about the fact that the setup in the two pictures is exactly the same (bar the image displayed on the screens) - that's because they were both taken in the same Gigabyte lab, using the same displays and hardware. The image works, but you must see it in the Tom's Hardware website as...

$300 AUD is steep. I'm sure if you wait a bit there will be better prices to be had. The fact you don't have to buy No-Vibes is an instant saver - they're about $40 AUD each, so it's almost like there is three included.

I've also had some recent success with undervolting, with my Pentium 4C 2.4Ghz now at 1.3V - under full 100% CPU load, it's hitting right on 37-38 degrees celcius. Before I tried undervolting, the CPU was overheating (due to a very dusty Zalman CNPS-7000B-AlCu) in excess of 60 degrees. Now, even wit...

I'm using a Gigabyte 8IPE1000 Pro2. It's a funny one though - I have to set the voltage after resetting the CMOS (by removing backup battery). If I want to change it again, I have to reset the CMOS again. If I don't reset the CMOS before making a change, it just doesn't apply the change, even though...

Undervolting success!

I've undervolted the 2.4Ghz Pentium 4C to 1.3V, and now my full load temperature when running the Zalman fan at 1250RPM is only 37 degrees celcius! It appears to be stable too, after a couple of hours using 2 instances of CPU Burn (for load on both virtual processors, totalling 100% CPU usage overal...

Thanks for the info. I'll definitely get around to cleaning the dust out, when I get some spare time. At the moment I've experimented with undervolting and am running the processor at 1.475V - it's idling nicely at ~22 degrees celcius and after three hours burn in (100% CPU usage), it does not excee...

Overheating problems with Zalman-7000AlCu and P4 2.4Ghz

When CPU usage is idle, the CPU temperature is ~25-30 degrees (celcius) with the fan at ~1400rpm. However, when the CPU usage reaches near 100% (for example, when encoding video) - the temperature can shoot up to near 60 degrees, when which the motherboard emits a loud tone (as the temperature warni...

Careful with that chipset fan, it spins that fast for a reason - the heatsink is really tiny, and does need a healthy amount of airflow to keep the chipset cool. Check this thread for possible mods. On many mobos, the fan on the NB heatsink can be disconnected. A friend had an Epox mobo (nForce3 S7...

As for a SPCR black one in the UK, we're inquiring now about who might handle it. The black version is exclusive to SCPR for at least 6 mos. I'm not sure if the market is big enough, but getting an Australian distributor would be excellent. :) I'd buy one for sure - Black, with the SPCR badge on it...

Foam/Sponge touching drive electronics = bad?

I've got some foam/sponge pieces - and thinking of resting the hard drive on top of the foam/sponge.

Is there any risk with the foam touching the bottom of the Samsung drive - i.e. the electronics/circuit board?

Well, I'll either be purchasing a DFI or Asus board soon - and I'll try to replace the heatsink. Hopefully I'll have no issues with chipping the core! :( To keep it cool, I'll be putting a 120mm fan on a Zalman fan bracket. It looks like the bracket isn't long enough to position the fan over the chi...
