Quiet Floor/Table Fan?
Anyone know of a quiet floor/table fan I can use to keep cool during the summer? Seems to be very little decent information on google for this subject. I've generally found: 1. Computer fans. 2. Bathroom fans. 3. Relatively small reviews that claim a fan is quiet, but doesn't have reference any comp...

Re: Decent replacement for UltraX Keyboard?
That seems to be the newer version (sometimes called 'premium'). It's still available in many places but it hasn't got the same feel as the original UltraX Flat. I had the older UltraX "Media" version which had different media buttons with text instead of symbols below them, but it didn't feel diff...

I have two WD6400AAKS made in March and June, and just received two WD6401AALS with matching mfg. dates of less than 2 weeks ago. They all have the same firmware version. Putting my ear to each drive and listening to idle and seek noises (with AAM disabled), my AAKS are quieter. One of the AALS is ...

Q6600vsQ9550, which one is cooler?
Hi,
Does anyone here have first hand experience with both? (or a Qx50 variant, like the q9450/q9650?)
I want to know which one is likely to run cooler.
Thanks!

Nice to hear that 7200.12 are quiet but since Seagate messed up big time with their firmware I decided to stay away from that brand for at least couple of years. My data is important to me...:-) That's exactly why you should go with Seagate now. After the .11 fiasco, they have checked, double-check...

WD6400AAKS - 3 platters? Anyone bought this recently?
Apparently there is a rumour going around that the new WD6400AAKS are heavier in weight than the original WD6400AAKS.. and that it may not be the original one at all. Anyone have this drive recently can confirm whether this is true or not? Or can anyone with this drive post HDtach benchmarks? (If yo...

If you want modular cabling and you dont have a case like the P180 where it keeps your PSU thermally seperated from the rest of the case, then i'd highly recommend the Antec Neo HE 430w. Its much easier to keep it thermally isolated from the rest of a standard PC case than with 120mm fan PSU's. Tha...

PSU Recommendation for A8N-SLI?
Looking for a quiet, not too expensive power supply that works with the A8N-SLI Motherboard.. The best choice based on the recommendations on this site seems to be the Antec NeoHE, but that model seems to have trouble with the Asus A8N-SLI motherboard for some reason. Any other suggestions for a goo...

The quietest drive: 3.5" WD 500GB vs your/any 2.5"
The 3.5" WD 500GB (WD5000KS/RS) has been stated and not disputed as the quietest 3.5" desktop HD manufacturered within the past few years. 2.5" HDs are generally regarded as being quieter, if not significantly quieter than the 3.5" counterparts. Are 2.5" HDs quieter than the 3.5" WD 500GB? Based on ...

Noise Survey Database (feedback about a product on one page)
I found it difficult to have to browse through hundreds of forum posts just to find out whether a drive is quiet or not by feedback. Mostly because a lot of people post model numbers and drives in their signature, bringing a lot of false positives. Now it wouldn't be right to just tell people what t...

Inexpensive, stable (less sample variation) quiet drive?
What's a quiet 3.5" HD that doesn't have as much variation (large noise difference from one drive to another, but same model? I'm highly considering the Samsung HD160JJ, but some people seem rather unhappy with it.

Noise: Seagate 80GB vs Seagate 160GB? Difference?
For the latest 7200.9 models, Is there a noise difference between the 80GB and the 160GB, since they're both one platter models from what I've read? Also would one have better performance than the other? (Considering they're both one platter, simply one is double sided, I'd assume equal.) Thanks in ...

3.5" Seagate vs Samsung 80GB, which is quieter?
Between Seagate's 80GB and Samsung's 80GB, which do you find is quieter?
Also, between Seagate's 7200.7/7200.9 or SATA/PATA?
What about Seagate's PATA vs SATA?
I assume the 7200.9 should be quieter, because of fewer platters, but is it?

2.5" Reliability, compared to 3.5" drives?
Between 2.5" HDs and 3.5" HDs, which are more reliable? I'd think in theory 2.5" HDs are more reliable because they generate less heat, which seems to be the leading factor determining the life your HD. However, they are smaller, and supposedly built more fragile.. does this equal less reliability? ...

It will provide decent airflow, but most people on here would not consider a medium panaflo fan or a 35DBA* fan quiet. People here consider the 'low' speed version noisy. It really depends on your noise standards. If you're using a cool and quiet motherboard, you could turn it down. *35DBA Panasonic...
