Good news is that I made a mistake, one wasn't running 55--I mistook the sensor for the motherboard chip diode for the WD--it began with a W!

I got it down to 40*C by just setting a fan behind the hdd's :)

Front Black Ice Micro + PC65

Not sure if this is more appropriate for this forum or somewhere else, but this seemed to provide the closest match. Anyways, I made a post on another message board that I enjoy reading asking for advice about a front mounted radiator and a drive cage dilema, I'd love for the people here to take a p...

Thanks Ralf--I'd forgotten all about that, MBM5 is so "set it up and forget it," ya know? One of the hdd's is hanging out at 45*C, the others are at 55*C

I use MBM5 now... What do you mean, the case temp? My temps are all fine in MBM--- I was referring to specific HDD Temp

[edit: I found a sensor that begins with W that I had not noticed before that is neither case, socket, or chip. It is sitting in the upper 50s]

not sure what the temps are. They are all western digitals, two are raptors, one is a 120/7200/8. The 120 is soooo much hotter than the raptors, which I found pretty strange... Half of me wishes they would burn up so I'd have a good excuse to get some spinpoints :) Is there software to check the tem...

I know this may sound awful, but I believe that the need for hdd cooling is greatly exagerated. I may suspend a quiet fan behind them later on, but I am in no hurry. I mean, imho, not cooling your hdd's is just like overclocking your processor--it won't live as long, but oh well. know what I mean? T...

The pics are at: http://www.deckadance.com/curious/pics/misc/quiet/quiet.html During a complete tear-down and rebuild, I did the following: I cut out 3 fan grills I cut a hole in the MB Tray so I could access the Heatsink screws I replaced the rear fans with L1as I mounted all fans with those blue d...

I'm doing the same thing, a 120 in the top and a dual 80 up front. I don't know how this is going to work out, but I'll be glad to tell you around the end of September when I actually finish building it (money is slow... parts are slow... slow slow slow)

Well, even if you did get the 80 to 120 shrouds, it still wouldn't work as well because the air pushed or pulled by the two 80s is invariably less than that of two 120s at the same speed--If performance is going to be around the same either way, I'd go with the dual 80 just to save space. I have a s...

That's what is so loud about the box I have now. Silence was a priority when I built it, but I hadn't found SPCR. I got quiet fans, I got the Zalman hsf, Antec TruePower480 isn't really too noisy... and then I topped it off with 5 WD hard drives which are by far and away the noisest things ever. It ...

Yeah, I was looking through the a heatercore dimensions database on procooling and didn't find anything close to the dimensions I would need. I was thinking of maybe using a double micro 80mm from HWLabs, though overpriced, it would fit and it would match my bix and I'm not really a penny pincher wh...

Hmm. Geez, nearly 2 months of thinking about this and I still haven't come to any sort of concrete decision on a pump--I am far too indecisive! If I were to add a second radiator setup in the front of the case--a lianli pc65--then it would have to be the size of 2x80mm fans, can anyone here recommen...

Help with and discuss my project

[edit: diagrams and project log 17 posts down] First let me explain that after a lot of thought, I've decided that my priorities are as follows: 1) Performance 2) Silence* 3) Looks IN THAT ORDER. It was hard for me to rank Performance above silence*, but finally I realized that that did mean a bit ...

Maybe I am over simplifying this, but from my understanding, heat shortens the life of anything electronic. If a fan running for a few seconds after shutdown lowers the temperature even just a tiny bit, then it may well extend the life of the PSU. Granted, probably not by much.

New Pump CSP750 lauded for low noise

There is a new pump on the block, the C Systems CSP750. I read two reviews of this new pump and both noted how suprisingly quiet it ran. Has anyone here tried it? Is there any chance of maybe getting it reviewed here?! Here is a link to their site http://www.c-systems.ca/ I'd love to hear everyones ...
