I think I voted before but haven't commented... anyways, I'm a civil engineering student in my 3rd year. Haven't decided on my specialty yet.

Sorry I didn't post my results earlier. Anyways, my results are consistent with dukla2000's results. My initial setup is posted in the first post of this thread. I also tried GoldMemory with this setup and did a Quick test for 18 hours (18 tests) and a Normal test for 9 hours (4 tests) and both of m...

good comments... good comments :) Thanks to everyone who responded. I have a few of my old 'noisy' psu's lying around in which I can try swapping out for and testing with goldmem. I'll post my results when I have the time. As for the 7volt issue, I've always thought that since the panaflo requires a...

ram corrupt due to 7volt mod?

Hi all... My computer has recently started crashing despite my recent reformat and I think that it's comming from my 2 sticks of crucial pc2100 ddr ram. They give me like 36 errors on tests 5 and 8 and since my system is an athlon xp, the memtest86 readme file says that it could be a common thing fo...

The third pin is strictly for monitoring how many times the fan rotates/spins per minute. I found this little mod to be useful if you want to test your fan speed and don't want to buy a fanmate: http://www.dslwebserver.com/main/fr_index.html?/main/5-7-adapter.html Molex adapters are pretty cheap. I ...

Looks like a great heatsink for a quiet computer. The only real problem I see with this heatsink is the clipping mechanism. The heatsink weighs 650g... heavier than the slk800's by about 100 grams. I would feel a little more secure if the heatsink was screwed onto the motherboard since I move my com...

You might want to look @ the recently reviewed fortron psu where there is no fan facing directly in the back: http://www.silentpcreview.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=Sections&file=index&req=viewarticle&artid=106&page=1 I remember it being mentioned in the forum before (in an enermax modding thread...

Seasonic's website lists a couple retailers:

http://www.seasonicpower.com

You can look the retailers up at http://www.resellerratings.com for the store reviews. atacom.com looks like they have the best rating of the four stores listed.

You can try the Zalman ZM-50 HP. There's a larger version (80 HP and 80A HP). But since you have an MX card, the ZM-50 looks like it would be sufficient if you're on a budget.

Here's a link to the ZM 50:

total dB = 10* log[10^(Fan#1/10) + 10^(Fan#2/10) + ...]

I found the formula at the bottom of this page:

I would also like to know where to get these isolators online. I've been looking high and low for them but it seems that the only way to get them is to call EAR's sales office.

good article... I recently ordered a swiftech mcx462-u and it'll hopefully arrive next week. It's good to see it performs well, even at 7 & 5 volts. Another great thing I like about the mcx462-u is that it'll work well on my amd xp (1600+ agoia y-stepping) and since I'm planning on going with Intel ...

Try 7V or rig up a 30-60 ohm resistor in series off the 12V feed for the fan (select the resistor that gives you the speed you want), or run it off a header w/ Zalman and adjust the speed to what you want. In the 12v/5v article... it mentions 7V CAN be stressful to the psu but does not go into any ...
