I looked at the specs of the Neo HE 500 with the three 17A 12V rails. Antec bracketed the three rails and put a rating of 456 watts across all the rails. That calculates to 38 amps instead of 51 so it must be the max draw per rail. Still, 38 amps of 12V should feed my computer and I might be able to...

Sold! A Neo HE 500 with three 17A 12V rails sounds a bit like overkill but dual-cores, 4 hard drives, video cards, TV tuner cards, fans and whatever else I can think of will be easily fed. Tried to get a Seasonic 430W refurb but they were sold out. Maybe this was an omen so I look forward to SPCR's ...

Frosted, Thanks for the tip, I'll check to motherboard connector to see if it is AT. Newegg sells a 230W AT power supply for $25 and it uses a 9A 12V rail so it would work with some modifications. I could mount the power supply in the front of the case with the fan blowing out the front. Strap a 60m...

Gateway Celeron 366 MHz power supply? SFX?

Was troubleshooting a friends computer (Gateway Celeron 366 -- no kidding) Very odd little microATX box with the large, passive Slot 1 heat sink and a power supply sitting in front of it. Appears to be something from 1998 or 1999 vintage and it was "upgraded" and refused to boot past WinXP into the ...

I think running hard drives and a fanless CPU in the bottom chamber without airflow would really cook the hard drives. A 7V Nexus fan and an Antec Phantom500 would be a good combo though. It all depends on what CPU you are running, case ventilation, how much noise you can stand etc. If you are running a P4 Prescott, I don't think a SilentX (or Nexus would be better) it would not cool well enough.
