very offtopic

I don't understand why you would need two power supplies together when one of these is more than enough. ... It's not about real power needs, it's about "i/we have a bigger e-peen". Haven't you heard something like "My computer is sooo powerfull, sooo overclocked, has sooo many light/fans/whatever ...

I have tested three very similar power supplies sold under Chieftec brand. In Hungary, these are sold in 500, 560, 620W non-modular versions, and a 560W modular. The 500W and 560W (both modular, and not-modular versions) had pretty good noise characteristics, and effeciency over 80% (~220-230V mains...

The Straight Power PSU-s are pretty much FSP Epsilons. Even the fan, cables and connectors (look at the main 20/24pin and the ATX12V connectors) are the same. (previous be-quiet PSUs were made by Topower) So it should be stable, but probably noisier than a Seasonic S12. Seasonics can be bought in Hu...

Just to correct a mistake: The primary side has MOSFETS in the PWM part, and to switch voltage on and off very fast. Because of the high frequency (several kHz compared to the mains 50/60Hz) alternating current so a smaller size transformer can be used. The output side has diodes to rectify the volt...

Update

Just bought a Green Power, and there are some differences compared to the review sample: The good: The fan is an ADDA AD1212LB-A71GL (the same as in new S12 PSUs). The bad: No PCI-E connector, only 1 SATA power conn, less peripherial connectors and the main ATX power connector is 24pin, non-detachab...

" The individual heatpipes are located quite close together. This is bit surprising; distributing them farther apart would seem better for heat dissipation." The processor cores are usually much smaller than the IHS. And i think even dual-core ones are smaller than the space covered by the three pi...

Not sure if it applies to your PSU, but in Hungary several 410W/120mm Ct PSUs died. AFAIK no damage done to other parts, but watch your psu...
