Don't pay any attention to the "start-up" juice numbers. It assumes ALL your devices will power up at exactly the same time, and that just does not happen. The main reason I was concerned with startup requirements, is because I had my system (I think my current one) not boot because I was trying to...

Thanks for the comments. I'm amazed that a system idles under 80W.

halcyon: Excellent link. Using the max wattages for devices I have, or am likely to get, it looks like I'd need 370W+. A shame startup requires so much juice.

Be aware of the Via chipset problem: Athlon 64 VIA K8T800 Memory Issue: When selecting 3 Sticks of Corsair (TwinX & CMX), Kingston (KHX), OCZ (All), or Mushkin (All) PC-3200 they will only work at a speed of PC-1600 due to nature of the K8T800 chip set. Athlon 64 PSU requirement confusion.

I've read Power Supply Fundamentals & Recommended Units and I'm still confused about how to determine what "enough" power is. I've looked for some Athlon 64 related threads, but didn't find anything helpful. PSU: I was considering the Enermax NoiseTaker 475 because of the 82% efficiency (although I ...

I've done some shipping work. I much prefer FedEx over UPS, but the cost is difficult to justify for everything. Shipping companies give discounts based on volume, so there can be a compelling reason for a business to go with one shipper. Personally, I'd offer at least FedEx if a customer wanted to ...

Well, the G4 guy is a guy, an industrial artist who strangely doesn't have a website (I assume you want a link to the guy's website). He had the case custom made by talking to the people who run that site, not by ordering it straight from them. Is there some other site where his case is displayed? ...

Seems like I've read that the current Athlon platform will continue as a replacement for Duron. Perhaps the MBs aren't going to disappear as soon as you think.

Re: Site navigation / usability poll

1) Does "articles" tell you enough about what that section is about? First, I'll assume a user has a general idea of what spcr is. If not, then the big "Welcome" block should fill them in. At first glance, I'm tempted to say "Yes, Articles is descriptive enough." Before clicking on Articles, I look...

I would think a home improvement type store would carry something like that. Home Depot, Lowes or similar. Maybe even a hardware store.

*lol* I could only find one mATX board... an ASUS A7V266. Couldn't find the MSI K7N420 Pro, so not sure what it is.
Of course, this technology should be supported by the BIOS and the operation system, such as Windows XP.
I wonder if linux is supporting this yet.

How about a Projects Gallery forum where only projects are posted, no comments. General Discussion could have threads for discussing the various projects. Something along those lines might keep that particular forum cleaner.

Don't blindly trust me, as there's always an exception. First unplug from the mains, ATX psus are otherwise ready-to-go, even with the machine switched off. There are generally only two dangerous capacitors in a psu, big electrolytics typically 500-1000uF, around 200v, part of the US voltage double...
