Venturing into the Small Form Factor
I just ordered the AOpen EZ18 to replace my Antec-Biostar system. I wanted to check out the SFF anyway and it seemed like the EZ18 is a well recommended entry-level socket A barebone. I also made a bad decision. Well the system that it will replace has a weird Samsung Spinpoint ( this Tech Support F...

Silicon Acoustics has A3 Seasonics. It says so on the product pages and the Seasonic I bought from them in August was A3.

Nexus 120mm at Silicon Acoustics. They're in WA too and I think UPS ground will take like a day just to deliver the goods.

Looks like you're looking for a case that can fit a 120mm front and back.

As for those three cases on your list, you could go ahead and pick one and then mod it to suit your needs.

I sealed off the side vents so I can run the exhaust fans to pull air from the front bezel. Compared to the 3700AMB/BQE, these cases are tight on space. It wasn't easy to get a mATX mobo to slide into position without bumping on the cages etc. Don't think I'll ever want to squeeze an ATX in there. I...

I was comparing these cases like two weeks ago. :D I have the SLK1650 and I've checked out the CS200 over at CompUSA. It's basically the same stuff except the exhaust fan opening, included PSU and included fan. IIRC the CS200 doesn't come with HDD cages that fit those rubber grommet stuff seen in th...

I have that same WD, but probably manufactured before May 2004. It's not quiet but not irritating like my old Quantum fireball. I recently installed rubber grommets (taken from Antec case, which fit Evercase 4252) and the noise has nice drop, though I can still hear it of course. JVC Samsung definit...

Very nice. I'll have to return to it when I have the time. I don't think I should worry about my CPU temps when my HDD easily hits 45°C while defragmenting, MBM recorded 50°C as the highest it reached :( Idle stays consistent at 31-32°C though. I agree, it looks photoshopped :D, show us some afterma...

Unlocked Thoroughbreds are rare, you're better off with an XP-M, and undervolt/clock that sucker for the lowest heat dissipation possible. Jones, with the unlocked Thoroughbred (or XP-M), he could always return to stock speeds when needed. 1GHz can easily handle browsing and some light games. EDIT: ...

I give this one to Samsung. The overall volume level of the SpinPoint's idle sound is noticeably lower than that of the Seagate's, and that's not counting the characteristics of the noise. The type of sound emitted by the Samsung is also less obtrusive than that of the Seagate, as is the fact that ...

What PSU are you using? Also you mention that the extra heat is forcing you to increase CPU fan speed. You should increase the speed of your exhaust fans instead. My Seasonic does run slightly warm but I'm pretty sure all the heat gets dumped out the hexagonal grill and the top of the case (isn't co...

Re: My home made silent(no fans) watercooled PC, almost fini
its really irritating how people say silent, yet the project still includes fans and makes a noise. silent means you cant hear it. maybe "those" people are half deaf *g* Certain fans when undervolted are almost inaudible. Silence is a subjective issue, I think my Nexus @ 12V is silent enough while ...

You could cut a hole in the nice Minuet and build an exhaust duct from there. Use an Alpha for the heatsink. Then again, the Minuet's finish looks too damm nice to be cut/sawed/drilled/dremelled through XD. Ideally, a side blowing heatsink like those mini heatpipe towers would work best in the Minue...
