I've got 4 CFL's in my home at the moment. 1 in lounge room, as well as a 3-lamp hanging unit (all incand.), which uses an adjustable switch (more on later), 1 in kitchen, and 2 in each of the kids rooms. The light from them is an obvious yellow, compared to std. incand's they replaced. I'm happy wi...

Just finished testing my NSK1300 last night. Idles at 48C, got up to 56C whilst playing C&C3 for about 2 hours. GPU, when I checked it (about 2 minutes after exiting the game), was at 50C, and dropped to 48C as well. Specs: AMD Athlon 64 Mobile 3400+, with Zalman CNPS7000B-AlCu, 12V 2GB Corsair DDR ...

Well I got my NSK3400 today, and I must say I'm VERY unimpressed with the PSU... They have used EXACTLY the same PSU as in the NSK4400, which normally would be OK except for the fact that there is no way I (or anyone else) is going to use 9 (yes, NINE) 4-pin molex plugs... At most, this system could...

Also, does it have those sillicone grommets for feet found on other Antec cases? Thanks. :) I can't comment directly on the NSK3400, bu...

It was some 2mm heavy rubbermat. I glued 2 layers of it for a total of 4mm. The sidepanels are now quite heavy and make a real solid thud, when I tap them. So they sound promising. I'm also going to glue some foam on the left side panel, but only after I have installed the heatsink and psu. On this...

That doesn't make any sense. I'm not talking about what they could have done, I'm talking about what they did. They put two silicon grommet HD mounts in the case. Of the two, only one has a fan mount right next to it. Once you mount the drive and the fan, you will see that the location of the HD mo...

Antec had a different rational than you for the bottom mount. This is the only HD mounting location inside the case that has a fan mount directly in front of it -- If you install a 92mm fan in the bottom location it is blowing directly on a bottom mounted HD. In my NSK3300, with a low-speed 92mm fa...

My only complaints about this case is the front vents not having any filters (easy fix, I'll cable tie some motherboard foam to it :) ) and the HDD location. Could've easily made the FDD bay house a 3.5" HDD below it, might've lost 1x 92mm fan mount though. Mind you, putting the HDD at the bottom of...

It IS very much a standard plug, just not outside North America. Mike, the outlet you have is classified as a NEMA 14-50. I had to do some googling for it. That humble pie was delicious.. OK, I know there's a at least a handful of electrically savvy people browsing SPCR. I need your help. I want to add 240VAC testing for SPCR's PSU reviews. It so happens that part of the lab used to be a kitchen, and there is a 240VAC two-phase outlet in there which used to be for an electric stove/...

Q and A time... A. You can use a steel wool ball to clean the tip. This helps reduce the heat time between cleaning and can prolong the life of the tip. A. Tinning the tip is VERY much a good idea. Also, the idea of putting solder on the tip before the wire can work, but the solder will burn quickly...

Most likely so you can flip the card and keep the outputs oriented the same way. Though it would have made more sense if they just accomodated for that by having a removable bracket. Though I'm wondering what those long cables connecting it to the slot cover are for. Yeah, that was my next question...

To OP: in worst case scenario you pick a cord that can't deliver the current but heats up. This happened to XBOX recently because of manufacturing defect. Note: This was nothing to do with "faulty" power cables. The fault was with dry solder joints on the power connector on the PSU's circuit board....
