Mobile chips will always consume less. Im one of those "its never enough" people so I'll always be interested in motd solutions.

That being said my next setup will probably be the dg45fc & a e7200. There just aren't any new motd solutions out.

Lian Li PC-05 + 4xD12SL's + External H2O cooling

The watercooling system has been recycled from a few systems. Its a hydronic heater element, 2 DDC-2+, and lots of 1/2" ID tubing. The case was really a rushed project. Had to RMA my mobo so while that was in the mail I decided to replace my case. Only mods I did were the cuts in the top for the top...

Invest in a hacksaw and some sandpaper. Hack up the bigger heatsink and mount it properly :) Even if it works fine the way it is, for the love of all that is holy within SPCR, make that cleaner :)

I'm a little confused by your airflow. So the fan blows out of the case right? And the intake is on the back of the motherboard? So the airflow really doesn't flow past the CPU heasink. Would you get better temps and slower fan speeds by reversing the fan to blow directly on the heatsink? Probably ...

VMWare saved my butt a few times when I had to do some random C++ dev. Installing Ubuntu on VMWare and getting all the required libs isnt very fun. Once you have a VMWare instance done you can just bring that file to any computer and run the VMWare player which is very handy. Easier than hacking the...

Cheapest place to purchase Commell boards from?

I've been infatuated with Commell's LS-372. Found out Global American relabels them and sells them in the US:
Global American 3307820

They want $342.14 for the board. BWI wants a little more for the Commell version. Are there any better avenues?

I think Im love drunk on that SBC board. Thinking about making a ultra small HTPC around it. Use a USB tuner & DVD drive to keep the case small. Maybe to 150 x 110 x 70mm

Very true. Once you get to UMPC and below there really isn't any real standards or form factors for obvious reasons.
Is this the processor that was going to be used in that bigger version of an iPhone? Can't even remember who that was, Intel? MS?

This is definitely mobo pron: http://www.commell.com.tw/Product/SBC/LS-372.HTM almost nano-itx. HDMI and TOSlink. Power in is just 12v. That plus a T7300 , a 7k200, and a 12v brick would be very sweet. Commell's ITX board: http://www.commell.com.tw/Product/SBC/LV-679.HTM Has a DVI port but its just ...

:) Nice old thread.
My board is still running 24/7. I never messed with trying to get 2GB working. I kept an eye on the Asus support forum thread, still looks like no one(at least those who report back) can get 2GB working even with all the new Bios updates. Sort of sad.

These are aimed at devices that are between a pocketpc and a laptop in terms of performance, correct? So not being able to run Windows is sort of a given :)

Some more ITX pron :D http://www.logicsupply.com/products/ms_9803 http://www.logicsupply.com/products/i965gmt_la Nothing too special. Second one does have a built-in DC-DC setup just like the previous AOpen models. It uses SODimms though. The MSI, like the Axiomtek, not really focused at HTPC's. No ...

Very nice. 1/2 watt for chipsets. Wonder how Silverthorne will be in terms of performance. Also a little surprised that Intel is focusing on UMPC's so much. Such a niche market. My conspiracy theory gears spin and make me think that maybe Intel makes these "UMPC friendly" platforms and CPUs because ...

In all honesty I never did the research that I should have on whats actually required for 1080p. There is obviously some lower limit that you cant go below in order to have smooth playback. I'm guessing that limit is right above where the new D201GLY2 is: http://www.silentpcreview.com/article780-pag...

Well minus PowerDVD version problems :) Neither core is maxed and I still have a few hundred megs of ram free during playback. Yo...

I do have a sweet spot for ITX boards. This sort of looks like a step sideways from whats currently available though. Cool beans. I'm considering a mod for mine (either a sidepanel or top fan). Cooling is surprisingly good at stock, but adding more fans is good. 2 fans with cfm matching a single fan are more quiet, right (all other things equal)? I see that the antec 900's top 200mm fan is available for purchase s...

I do like the completely unconventional design of the A05 :) it being so small is a big attraction. The only turn-off I had was that I questioned its cooling ability. That mod he did for the top two 120 exhausts(simple & easy solution) makes me think my worries were unwarranted. Thanks for linking t...
