Undervolted Sempron 3000 on K8V-MX
Hey guys, havent been around in a while. Just thought Id let you know, Im working on the new build for my car PC. I rely on low power because of power restrictions, not because of noise/cooling restrictions. Anyway, I dont know if Ive got a holy grail processor, or if its standard, but my Sempron is...

Undervolting K7S41GX
Unfortunally this was the only mATX Socket A board availible in my area. Everything on it works fine, but I dont think it has an undervolting option. Ive looked around a bit for a solution, but I really cant find anything. I really need to undervolt this chip. Is there any hackish-way of forcing the...

Epia HSF replacement
Does the Epia V series just use a standard chipset heatsink?
It's got a 40mm fan on it and I think it'll drive me nuts. I'm hoping I can swap it out for a passive cooler and just get a 120mm fan blowing over the whole board.
it's an 800mhz processor, so it shouldnt get THAT hot

Hard drive mounting in high-shock areas
Although not directly silent PC question, I couldnt think of a better place to ask. Using fairly stiff 4-way elastic mounting on a laptop HD, with a solid inch of clearance in every direction, will it survive the shocks and vibration of being mounted in a car trunk? Something like this: ..\..../.. ....

Request for future PSU reviews
Call me lazy, but I wouldnt mind seeing a 'leak' voltage column in the stats for the PSUs.
I know I just have to subtract the output from the input, but its a lot easier to see when it's all laid out with the other numbers

I'm using 1.8mm stretch magic. A little test I did shows 2 strands can support 15 lbs. I'm supporting 2 HDs (probably less than 2lbs) with four strands. I've yet to notice any stretching or hardening, but it's only been running for 2 days this way. I wouldnt expect any, since it's an entirely acryli...

Using the somewhat ghetto temperature recording method I'm using, I've never seen the heatsink temp go above 42C A few things to keep in mind: I'm only measuring the temperature of one heatsink The accuracy of the temperature probe is unknown Your mileage will vary. What works for me works because o...
